Eisley is only anything because of you It's not a gloatacious statement. It's true and I've been saying it since the beginning of time. (ask old bardies) Wish I could find my best effort blurb on this subject. I don't have time really. Have a mammoth to do list to get ready this week for the Yahoo shows, but... I have to say something. I have to make it clear. The thankfulness and vapid love we have for you guys is beyond what I can describe in words. Eisley would still be in their bedrooms if the very first of you hadn't built a small place in your hearts for their music... followed by your zeal to spread it to your best friends. Some of you date back to the earliest "message board" - which was so boiler plate and lame, it's funny. But from Justin (lloyd) to Jay (pilotdrift) to the earliest of you guys... ones who saw the band cover "Zombie" by the Cranberries when Stacy was 9, ones of you who might have been at their very first show opening up for 100 Portraits with 350 people there, from those who cheered at the impromptu stage at Cornerstone, from those who saw their first club dates in Deep Ellum, who discovered them on the Coldplay tours, who saw them in England but haven't seen sight of them since... for those in Australia, New Mexico, Canada... from wherever... to everyone who's posted on this forum and come to shows and shown your love and support, I humbly thankyou. I catch the band reading Laughing City all the time... tuning in in wonderment. We talk constantly about how amazing you guys are. They love the fact that their fans aren't just comprised of cool people... that there are dorks, like them. Goofy and odd shaped ones, old and young ones... kids and parents... grandparents.... hipsters, geeks, scenesters.... all. Across the board, (pun intended) you guys are a sight for sore, weary, eyes. And if, when we stroll thru a town, we seem more beaten down than we did a year ago... and aren't saying thank you as often, or don't seem as plugged in as we used to..please know that nothing has changed. Not us. Not you. It's just getting harder to keep up the pace - as everything is moving faster and faster.... and responsibilities and constant touring invade personal space... Time management and recreation are issues. Complexities and changes and growth present new challenges. Actually, on the way back from Salt Lake, I wrote a lengthy piece on this because it was fresh on my mind. I'll have to pull it up. The topic has been burdening my TM soaked brain for weeks. Please just know how thankful everyone is; how much Eisley is only a reflection of your interest, your undergirding, your support, your celebrating their music... I promise that if you guys lost interest and quit supporting them, they would fade away. So who's really important here? I've said from the beginning... this thing called Eisley is a relationship between a band of people - songwriters and an audience of the friends fans. Lose one of the two and it's over. I'm not sucking up. I'm expressing thanks. If anyone deserves an appreciation thread, it's you guys. Now let's hear you pat yourselves on your backs.. bd p.s. I'll look for that long, "verbosuoso" that entails all I feel and all we're going through and how it's affecting our lives. Perhaps I'll post it here, in a reply. I dunno. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Boyd, because of your generosity in keeping us so uncannily well-informed and making us a part of the family of Eisley by your so frequent updates of the band's happenings, to the generosity of the band with all of the time and kindness that they give to their fans at and after the shows, in interviews, and of course, in their music, a fan could not ask for a better band to have- Eisley is and should be the archetype for how all bands should be: having appreciation, open-heartedness, and kindness as their chief virtues. Unfortunately I have never been to an Eisley show and I don't know that I ever will be able to, I can only hope, but the video clips and pictures with fans that they take betray their openness and acceptance of fans as regular people as they are- Eisley is a blessing by not suffering from that arrogance that most celebrities seem to acquire so quickly and easily. With Eisley there is not a trace of that abhorant quality. Eisley and you are blessings to us all. I know that my life has chaned irrevocably because of Eisley and my quality of life is increased because of them. So thank you Boyd and thank you to all of the members for being who they are- precious and marvelous. |

But Boyd, your logic isn't quite airtight here. You see, we Eisley fans (at least the most devoted and hardcore of us) gravitate to and post our love for the band on this here forum. What would happen to this here forum if you (and gRegor, and Thomas, and our beloved Mods, and so on) had not created it, maintained it, improved it, and kept it running all these (almost three) years? We'd be the scattered tribes of Israel (or some equivalent metaphor), roaming the Internet and attempting to plant our own puny, pathetic forums to satiate our Eisley craving. Fansites would be like warring nation-states without an official source of information and discussion. Rumors would spread like fire in dry brush without the quenching power of official News and Announcements. Divisiveness and schisms would inevitably occur and perpetuate themselves without our semi-daily update from the Boyd droid. Eisley fans would have no common ground, no equal footing in a place like this where speech is free and Eisley love fills the air. We'd be lost, I tell you, lost! In short, it's by no means all about us. And I, for one, have never felt unthanked by you or the band or anyone else involved. Just keep making music, and keep this board running, and it's thanks enough for me. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

boyd, i don't think laughing city would be half of what it has become if you weren't so involved with it. your constant news and updates give us all a connection to the band that you couldn't find anywhere else. so thank you, boyd, from the bottom of my heart. eisley has always been able to put a smile on my face even on the worst of times. _________________ when we break, we'll wait for our miracle. god is a place where some holy spectacle lies. when we break, we'll wait for our miracle. god is a place you will wait for the rest of your life. -neutral milk hotel |
