So this is the general board, and I am kinda new...so I figured it would be a good place to post.

Does anyone else use myspace to find great new music? I am always searching through the bands to hear something that really catches my attention, and while I loathe the site in general - it is a very useful place!

In fact I first heard about Eisley on there a couple years back, from a friend who was raving about them...

so does anyone else use myspace?

I use Myspace just to put my band's music on there. We get like 2 plays a day, which is nice because at least we're getting plays.

The only thing I have against myspace is that it's all about images. People putting on masks, trying to be someone else.
Not always, but I see it a lot. Even in my own friends. Confused

I've found some great bands through there. Here are some of the more notable ones:

Auto*Pilot (I've been listening to them since high school, but I didn't know they had a MySpace until very recently)

Face Down In Mexico City With An Ice Pick In The Back

Black Spring (Nice people they are)

Flux Utopia

And then, of course, there's Alexis (my band).

I can't stand Purevolume personally. I very briefly had an account there and I just couldn't stand how it was set up.

The same goes for Sound Click.

I have to agree to both, especially soundclick...

I dont like purevolume because of how it is setup and that 99.9% of the artists on there all sound the same.

I enjoy myspace's music section, in fact so many artists have rare and unreleased stuff up that it would almost be stupid to ignore.

That is very true about PureVolume. There are only two bands on there I like, and both are merely nom de guerre's for the same person.

I like how open MySpace is with their material and how you can basically put up whatever you'd like without the whole approval thing on PureVolume. Some of the exclusives they have are quite nice.
