Great Expectations from a photo/musical heritage http://autumndewilde.com/ The past 2 days were highly successful in allowing Autumn and crew to capture some images of the band that, in my humble opinion, will be the first, best shots - representing the quirky, group's natural identity profoundly. Background She grew up around music and photography. Even as a child, she spend hrs combing through her dad's negatives and contact sheets - admiring his work... shots from live concerts; musical celebs were friends. She was born in a cabin at Woodstock. She snagged the attention of friend - "Beck" by with some amateur shots - resulting in an exclusive position (see cover of Filter, etc.). Best I can piece it together from short conversations, she developed the same kind of relationship with Elliot Smith, Spoon, Pavement... things developed into an actual career. A pretty cool story. She's very disciplined in her art... and is as much in love with music as she is photography. I think that's why she's a match for Eisley. Scouts She arrived yesterday afternoon from LA, sat and had coffee, chatted, hung out, listened to more Eisley tunes in our den, etc. for several hours before hopping in her rent car with Chauntelle, Sherri and Stacy to search for some sweet spots to shoot. Later that eve, Fernando, Eisley's new publicist at WB and Autumn's assistant came over and hung out for good while to plan the shots, pick wardrobe (the band's own) and go over plans for the next day - (today!) All of this is very boiler plate because I'm trying to finish the eblast that needs a link to this thread. Sorry. I wanted to have time to put some clips from the shoot up. We're caught in the tyranny of the urgent right now... one more day before departing for the Switchfoot tour. egad. zounds. Overall vibe/Connections Anyway, I just think it went great. The band loved her and her work. btw, she's tight w/ Beck, Deathcab and was with Elliot before his unfortunate passing. She's been out w/ Deathcab as a tour photographer and is good friends with those guys... So, like... the HOOK up, Autumn! Come on. We met some of them at Sasquatch Festival when either Ben or one of them came over to Eisley's dressing room just to say hello and how much he liked the music... that was on the Coldplay tour - too long ago. very nice. Her Trademark Autumn's work is honest, fresh... she has this rare ability to capture the band's natural, real personality... not at all contrived, trendy; not glam. It's like she snaps right after the pose is set... as things are breaking up.... it's more random.. more candid. You'll see. We don't have any of the "roids" but we saw them. They're beautiful. 4-5 different sets. Hoping it's stuff for future CD/posters/web. You'll see it soon enough. I have to update the frontpage of the site asap. Specific Shot I swooned over. One of the shots was taken this morning... with a wardrobe of greens, she weaved a monochromatic moment - combining the canopy of green with morning atmosphere so visible and tangible – the band beamed with a new kind of wholistic radiance. It was natural, woodsy... It was a of mini-genesis of sorts... resulting in a new kind of expression... I believe she came close to acheiving absolute Eisleyness. (ok. my tongue is partially in my cheek. It's syrupy, but... that's the way the shot hit me...) Great work, great team effort. Everyone was awesome. Good times. Hope to add content. But, yikes... Thanks ya'll. boyd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Can you say lucky? Telling by all of her other material and your descriptions, those photos are going to be amazing. Gah, I remember my friend directing me to the "Son of Sam" video there more than a year ago and I was just bowled over by the fact she took a lot of my favorite photos of musicians. I'm seriously excited about seeing what comes out. _________________ Blaahg Mahspace Audioscrobbler
