because not all people are sheep and "follow trends". Some people like being individual. I find I dress/do my hair/whatever differently to whats "in style" usually just because I wear what i want instead of whats supposedly in at the time I do hate when both guys & girls wear their pants halfway down their asses though. Pull up your pants and get a belt for goodness sake. _________________

ha. I adore polka dots, I adore flowers and my converses are usally dirty, with writing/drawing all over it. I guess I wear dumb clothes, I should tell them... I wear both flip-flops and chucks. Dirty chucks, at that, with signatures from two bands on the toe-pad! 
So I say flip-flops. I recently got my first pair of my own (my previous pairs had been passed down from older siblings)! You can wear flip-flops at any season. If you're me, that is!
And yes, Paul's got it in one. Fashion is all subjective. Perhaps what you wear is stupid and ugly to me. I usually shop at thrift stores, but my wardrobe is mainly Abercrombie. I wear flip-flops, dirty tennis shoes.. and not Converse. Why? Because, I don't condone with child labor (which is the means Converse uses to make their shoes). I wore Converse when I was like.. 5, and I have the pictures to prove it. They were popular then, and now they've come back. I don't follow crowds or trends, and I'll wear whatever I damn please. Wether anyone likes it or not, is their problem. PS- I've yet to hear complaints about my attire, other than my shirts being a little tight. But, I'm told I dress quite nicely... without following any trend. Oh, and my toes are actually quite pretty, I'll post a picture if I must prove it. It's kinda hard to keep your shoes clean. I mean, I don't wear mine each day after stomping around all over the place outside and come home and scrub them down each night JUST to keep them looking clean. And flip flops are comfortable. Plus, if you lived somewhere that's usually incredibly hot (like Florida), you would probably love them. Besides, who cares if your toes are showing?
