I suck at doing both myself, but I think it involves a lot of practice. The more I know a song, the easier it is for me, though. But my name isn't Sherri or Stacy, so I'll step aside ... _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Singing and playing can be difficult, but (as will all things) all it takes is practice. One of my instructors told the class that's best to over-prepare. Choose one area, and just beat it in your brain. Make it so that you don't have to think about it at all, it just comes natural to do it. Then, you don't have to worry about focusing on two things at once. Mess-ups happen, it's a part of life; but don't let them discourage you. *this has been a BK post* _________________

Hmmn...I don't know when they will have the op to get on here to answer this, but I will tell you, that it did take them a little practice in the beginning, but Stacy was 8 and Sherri was 12, so they've had a few years at it Some people make it look so effortless Like how in the world does Chris Martin flail all over the place and stay on pitch? I would pass out! |

I would pass out! Seriously! Yeah, I can play some Coldplay on the piano, and a few songs are easy, like Trouble and The Scientist, but probably because I already knew them so well. Of course, I can't sing along to Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles and play it at the same time. Just doesn't work. I'm not cool enough, I suppose. But in concert, Chris improvises even more. It's amazing. Of course, you guys know since you know, did a little thing like GOING ON TOUR with them. yeah, no biggi. _________________ Carpe PM *Mac User* |

It is very difficult to sing and play at the same time. I spent several months of solid practice to be able to stay on rhythm and pitch, but now it comes natural. Different people go at different speeds. Give it some time, and you'll get it. Yes, I think Sherri would qualify as a rhythm guitarist... I could be mistaken, but from what I've seen a "rhythm guitarist" is generally defined as any guitarist who doesn't play lead. And since Chauntelle handles most of the solos and lead stuff, that means Sherri does rhythm... a bit like Ed O'Brien in Radiohead (who also sings and plays), or something like that. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

i don't have much trouble singing and playing myself but i have a poor memory so i usually need the words sitting in front of me. it would also help if my voice was good enough for people to want to listen to me. _________________ www.myspace.com/neilcorbett |

I can't sing to save my life, much less sing and play simutaneously. _________________ Coprophiliacs make sh*tty lovers. Flickr Transvaal IV - Myspace : Virb Deep Thoughts About Shallow Subjects |

yea it's very aggravating when you can't sing and play at the same time. my voice isn't the best in the world so i have a hard time staying in tune and on tempo if i'm playing guitar. it's sooooooooooo hard. i guess it just takes loads of practice. hmm _________________ my xanga
