Blue Box Digital. A guy named Aaron Willis. He's right there in Dallas - A great friend from Tyler now in the Metroplex Aaron Willis: awillis@sambucajazzcafe.com http://www.blueboxdigital.com/ Here's a blurb I recently gave them. (a request - for his website) Aaron and Blue Box effectively changed the course of history for MossEisley. After approaching Blue Box about improving the mix on some tracking we'd done in another studio on a Roland XRZ-140 (aaron, what was that machine?), we found out the original tracks were distorted and unusable. A re-mix problem turned into a complete re-tracking opportunity. So, the question on everyone's mind might be: "how good is BlueBox and what will working with them be like?" All I can say is: good, fun, resourceful, memorable, profitable. 7 sizeable indie labels including Tooth and Nail loved the ep and commented on the sonic quality; multiple national labels including Capitol, Warner Brothers, Island DefJam, Columbia and others have been able to understand clearly what the band's sound and potentiality could be from the quality BlueBox provided us; showcasing opportunities with these labels are happening weekly as a direct result of the work BlueBox did for us. Aaron is not only one of the most precise, technically profound, sound engineers we've worked with, but he's an artist and a musician which gives him the creative edge and the unique ability to communicate effectively with artsy/fartsy musicians. He‚s patient, humorous and professional. No hype. Much of the activity and recent developments with this band are directly related to the recording that Blue Box put in our hands last July. I strongly recommend that you do whatever it takes to work with these guys. But, I must say, however, that without the blood, sweat and tears of Kevin Kirkwood of Seven Channels, Dave Ozman from The Flying Machine, Josh from the studio in Dallas, The gear that the guys in 40 days lent us, moral support and help from Dallas Perry, Jimmy Green, Midlake, Jason, Andrew, - who sold me that splash for $10, and more, it would have been impossible. They worked on the EP just before we took it all to Aaron - and started over. Kevin and Dave were the torch bearers. All for free. The newish, soon-to-be outdated EP is just what it is...a demo ep. Just wanted to set the record straight. This little, lo-budget ep seems to have found it's way into the hands and ears of many, subsequently lightening the darkened forest. boyd |
