This doesn't have to do with the band but it does have to do with this site so I assume I posted this in the correct category.

So, I may have missed an explanation as I have been on and off this site throughout '06, but why is it that sooooooooo many of the awesome threads of old no longer seem to be available? I know there was a switch in servers but last time I checked that didn't destroy old web files. So whilst there may not be a cure, can I at least get an explanation as to why such a fate should have been bestowed upon such fine threads?
I would have checked to see whether or not such a question was asked earlier, but the likelihood is that the thread would have been destroyed as well so I didn't even bother Razz

Theoretically, how could a thread created about why a group of threads recieved a mass death be deleted at the same time as the threads it was inquiring about?

I'm sorry I don't have anything helpful to add, but you've stumbled on a nice little paradox there.

the question has been asked before. just maybe not in a thread titled, "where did all the threads go?" specifically, many an inquiry about chat quotes were made. and some others.

but yeah, apparently no one knows. it's a mystery of confusing proportions. we even went on a quest, but no answers were found. all we found was cheese.

me, i blame gregor. and i will avenge, not their mass death, but their mass kidnapping, as i believe they are still out there somewhere, crying out for someone to please find them, soon. can't you hear them?

It's a technical issue. Nothing against those threads. (Most of 'em, at least. heh) I'm not sure if they'll be back, though. I've been trying to get that information.

Oh oh, since people can be so eager to jump on things: No thread motivated the mass loss. That was purely technical. I just miss some less than others, on a personal level. Just to clarify. Smile

Hmm, I thought it was announced somewhere, somehow during the last switchover, but yeah, it probably wasn't (hey, it was hectic)... forum pruning was turned on for General, Music, and Shameless. Threads with no posts in 60 days get automatically deleted.

Er, in short, it's Jamie's fault. Very Happy

So if we like a thread, we need to keep bumping it, or it will be deleted? Confused I know it probably has something to do with server space not being infinite, but why make it automatic? Seems a lot of threads with less significance could have been pruned without killing the whole forum's history. Perhaps deleting all the photos on old threads would have accomplished the same thing, though probably more time consuming. Or was that not the real answer, and only a joke about Jamie (I didn't get the joke I guess).
