In light of the fact that the new album will not be released until August at the earliest, we need some kind of new material to tide us over. So, reading the Sunfeet EP post, Boyd gave me a great idea, the Invasion EP. Centered around the song 'Invasion', as it has been said to be the first single. Invasion EP Release: May 2007 Tracks: 1. Invasion 2. Marsh King's Daughter 3. Sunfeet 4. ??? (Whatever the other extra new song is) Ideally, it would be nice to have a physical EP, whether that be Vinyl (#1 choice) or CD or both. But I would settle for an iTunes release. Having a few new songs to listen to would make this ridiculous wait a little easier. I think Boyd's journals, while fun and informative, actually make this wait a lot harder because we know so much! In a way I wish I knew nothing so that I would not have been expecting the album to have already been released. I can dream, right?  _________________ http://apturnofftheradio.blogspot.com |

They obviously have a reason to delay. And as "Invasion" seems destined to greatness, I doubt we'll be seeing it released early (unless it somehow found it's way onto a soundtrack, hopes)... But maybe they can throw us a bone - a song or two that didn't make the cut.

If 'Invasion' is the single, then it makes sense to release my proposed EP the same time the song is released on the radio- that way when people hear it on the radio they can go out and buy it. Singles are released early to build excitement for the release of the LP. If the LP is August, I doubt Invasion would be out in May. That is all I'm saying. The first single usually goes around a few weeks to a month before the LP. Not saying for sure Invasion would be the first single, but I wouldn't be surprised. |

The Four Winds EP was released about a month and 1/2 before the album came out. I say they should do that as well. The single with a few that didn't make this (US) album and Sunfeet. THen I guess it couldn't be released in the UK because the "extra tracks" on the album wouldn't extra anymore. But it's a great idea. |

Another example would be the self-titled Jimmy Eat World EP that was released before 'Clarity'. They put out that EP because it took so long for 'Clarity' to be released. It contains two songs that were on 'Clarity', a demo from the album, and two unreleased songs. The only catch: EPs cost money, too. Could it sell enough to justify the risk, just ahead of their second album? An iTunes "EP" is dramatically cheaper. I would enjoy a print EP, but hate to add even more risk to the equation. Sounds like Invasion will be out around the time of the Fray tour per that album name thread. So early to mid-July. Edit, come to think of it, they will need something new to sell on that tour. An EP would be nice! |
