Post subject: So, he says through gritted teeth, promotion in the UK?
Posted: Sat Aug 18, 2007 7:19 am Is this what we've been waiting for, ever since Bob Harris played Golly Sandra (I think it was GS: this was about a year ago) on at least one of his programs on Radio 2; ever since Boyd mentioned in journels that there were things happening, or trying to happen in the UK; ever since... well... since forever. Whatever it means, it made my freaking day. So I'm sitting in the basement of the shop doing a job so dull that others in my position have actually slept instead of doing it. I had turned to rubbing dead skin off my body (yeh, it was irritating me, that bit of skin, and it was near the end of the day... come on... gimme a break). and then from the radio, which is right next to me, i hear this thump thump thump... DERMOT O'LEARY, my friends, PLAYED TAKING CONTROL! That's BBC Radio 2. That's mainstream radio. That's... To give you a sample, previous records of the week has included Mika's Grace Kelly, Razorsh*te's America, at least two Siscor Sister's, Midlake's Roscoe (i could be lying. Certainly at least one presenter digged it). OK, guys. you have NO. IDEA how happy this made me! I was dancing as much as you can when you're on a chair and working. I even was headbanging at points. particularly the part just after the suspended chord where everythin' kicks in. My legs and body were goin' as nuts as they could be. I EVEN was singing along. before realising that a colleague could come down the stairs at any moment. I had the track in my head the rest of the day (about one and a half hours of it). I probably burst into a cheese at various points, too. And then, THEN, he mentioned the SXSW set. And then said something hilarious about Stacy, more or less that, "she's like Harry Potter. They just bung her in a room and tell her to "write albums!" And she does!". He also mentioned other stuff, like the two London dates, Reading/Leeds. didn't mention Combinations, though. As far as i can remember. ... _________________ She is handsome, she is pretty, she is the girl from Belfast City, she is courtin' one two three, please won't you tell me who is she? The U.K. is SUCH a great market for Eisley. 'Bout time they got some mainstream attention over there. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

I love Dermot. He is excellllent on BBLB. He gets major props for Eisley love too. I liked the interview he did with the band at SXSW, he's a funny little man. Oh and R2 is good, I jut turned it on randomly one day [after Chris Moyles had finished on R1] and they played Feist so it was a hurrah kind of time. |

I'm sure you saw this, but here is the journal about the SXSW thing from a few months ago. And the radio show they did. http://www.eisley.com/journals/trolleywood/_28135/ http://mucus.net/eisleyradio2.mp3 Strange how Eisley is getting more air time in england than they are here. |

I was bummed 'cause that day was busy in the shop, being a) a saturday and b) coming up to Easter, and therefore I missed it. I'm yet to download the tracks. *bad fan* _________________ She is handsome, she is pretty, she is the girl from Belfast City, she is courtin' one two three, please won't you tell me who is she? I got the CD yesterday, a quality album. Too bad the bonus songs were old ones, they didn't fit the end properly, probably since I'm too used to them... I kinda wish the older tracks were live/acoustic recordings, it would have improved the ending as it would feel fresher IMO. theenvycorps wrote: Eisley should do a session at Maida Vale...on Radio 1 that is... I'm sure they'd be cracking in the Live Lounge. |

i totally didn't even know they were doing shows other than reading. i'm going to see them on thursday at the Barfly. and it seems they're playing the Astoria too. though that is supporting angels & airwaves and is therefore sold out. OH WELL. i get to see them in a smaller venue for half the price. score! |
