I was showing my friend Cassy my nice Blue Eisley CD.
the guy next to me said "he like the CD."
i asked if he got the DVD edition and he said he
got a burnt copy from a friend.then i said"why would
you do that if you like them?"he said "well it was free"
i stoped talking to him after that point.

i know some people don't think of it as stealing but i think if you take
something without permission of the people who own it then your stealing.

He said his friend gave him a copy. That isn't stealing from the owner of the CD. Confused

A lot of that goes on for sure. Which is why I was surprised WB threw the whole album up on Eisley's myspace. I guess it had a deterent effect in that nobody else needed to leak it all over the place.

WB owns the rights to copy and distribute this. So I would say it is stealing (from WB).

I think the album was put on myspace because the album was leaked a little while before it was on myspace.

I don't think it's bad to burn a copy of a CD.

I did not know that. But most albums do leak weeks or even a month before they hit the stores.

I think if the guy likes it enough, he'll probably end up spending some money on Eisley down the road. If he hadn't gotten the freebie he probably wouldn't even know to like them. It's a catch-22. Doesn't make it right, but there might be an opportunity for the band to make some money off this guy down the road if it's something he really likes.

well making a Album cost money.
doing good sound quality cost money.
paying people between WB or Eisley
to US cost money. so some one
is getting cheated.

That's what I call capitalism. Someone is always going to get screwed. Wink

Someone only got cheated IF he would have purchased the album had it not been available for free. About 90% of my music library is not pirated, and I wouldn't have the money, nor the desire to repurchase all those albums. However, it has led to a number of additional purchases I wouldn't have otherwise made, both of albums and of concert tickets/merchandise.

There, that oughta throw off the RIAA. But the point is that pirating music can be harmful, but often it is beneficial to a band.

People burn copies of CDs for friends all the time. Deal with it.
