Two things:

1. I didn't leave a "but everything is important!" option because that's what everyone would have chosen.

2. I know there is a more accurate, up to date guide on the different food groups, but I based mine off of what I remembered from the old pyramid.

Oh my God Tyler, WHY DO YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE.

Now I feel obligated to rant ! Absolutely Obligated!

Carbs - Okay..this is ridic. I don't even know what to do with myself. There are carbs in everything, especially fruits, vegetables and whole grains. I'm categorising white flour and other "carbs" under junk food, because the category of complex carbs and also some simple, natural sugars is important. Probably the all-important food genre, since it's in freaking everything. You know, put fiber as an option on this poll because you need it too, and you get it too if you eat the right carbs.

Protein - Lean. Freaking. Protein. SO IMPORTANT. The average person needs at least 50 grams of protein a day, and I don't care what your diet is, you are going to get 50 grams of healthy protein in because it's not hard to get. Jeez. Just freaking do it.

Fruits - See carbs and also "Mmm vitamin C"

Vegetables - See carbs and also "Mmm vitamin everything"

Dairy - You don't need dairy unless you have one of various rare medical conditions. And no, these conditions do not include "Really liking cheese". This category exists, for the most part, in harmony with the junk food arena - purely here for flavor.
Oh, and as far as vegan substitutes go - Super-awesome alternatives with the same or ridiculously similar flavors. No one needs that expensive-ass soy cheeze though.

Tyler....why, tyler.....WHYYYYY DO I DO THIS TO ME?!!?

This thread seems very similar to an episode of Aurthur that was on yesterday. Wink

I used to watch that show religiously, but I'm afraid to say I didn't catch that one. My favorite episode was when the Brain stayed over at Arthur's house and ended up being better at him in everything.
