Hello my peeps. It has been a while. I have been a busy bee, so I haven't been keeping up with the forum. I have had a little time recently so I thought I'd share some thoughts and some love for my favorite band. I'm sure there is a thread about Eisley on Conan, but this post is far more encompassing due to my long absence, though it may not have been long enough for at least one of you. In any case, I had to DVR Conan that night, but I was so OVERJOYED at seeing Eisley perform again that I wept. It has been so long. I've been weeping a lot lately. However, I thought Chauntelle's long Tow-Heads era hairstyle was lovely. Ugh, I really hate saying things like that. I opened up a magazine the other day that was screaming at me how ladies in Hollywood were flocking to the salons to get the "Posh," which apparently is a hairstyle dubbed after Victoria Beckham, who recently repopularized it. As if no one ever cut their hair in that style before. Psh! I guess what I really meant to say was that Chauntelle's hair looked lovely and reminded me of the styles worn by the girls when they were called the Tow-heads (sp?;nvm, if I cared enough I'd look it up myself). So, I finally got to see Eisley's video for Invasion. Loved the whole bodysnatchers/horrormovie feel to it. Also I am a HUGE fan of pre-raphaelite art and the scene where Sherri was floating and gets quickly pulled under reminded me of the work "Ophelia" by John Everett Millais, which is one of my favorites for sure. Am I alone in drawing that connection? Plus, tall Stacy was a huge plus. I think Stacy was the queen of the body snatchers and she tricked Garron at the end. Sneaky Stacy. Sadly, the last few times Eisley has been in our nation's second largest state, a particular circumstance of the female gender has kept me from seeing them. She claims to love me, but hardly seems to know or care about what is important to me. Though I did stop by the Parish in Austin for about 10 minutes a couple of weeks ago, chatting with the lovely Kim, as I try to each time. I couldn't stay longer and wept as I left. Is that pathetic? Probably. Later it occurred to me that for the last couple of years, excluding this year, each time Eisley played in Austin or San Antonio, I always met up with the Illustrious Clark and/or Dave. Apparently that time in my life has come to an end. I feel lost. She doesn't like Eisley, but said she is trying to like them. I appreciate the notion, but am I alone in thinking that it is a silly idea? I can't think of anything more foolish than to try to change your tastes for someone. Is that crazy? Dang. Maybe you two could just do the "Girls/Guys night out" thing and plan to do different activities for the night when Eisley comes to town? Either that, or she should see them live to see if she likes them. After all, I don't think you've truly heard Eisley until you've seen them live (though Combinations comes closer to the experience). I don't really believe in self-imposed taste change for the sake of a romantic partner, either. But I do believe that now and then, a bf/gf/wife/husband should put up with something they might not thoroughly enjoy for the night when the person they love is obviously so passionate about it. I hope this issue works out, and especially that she really gets Eisley one day soon. Also, good to see you post! _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

none of my friends are into eisley but everytime they come to town, i get 2 tickets because i know my boyfriend will come with me. i know he doesn't love them like me but he tolerates them for me. i am lucky i guess. i need to let him know that i appreciate that. thank you for giving me something to think about. and yes, i do think changing your tastes for someone else is foolish. i mean, if someone turns you on to something new (food, band, etc) then that's cool. but i don't think you can/should force yourself to like something for someone else. that's not being true to yourself. |

Ouch. My fiance hates Brandi Carlile, but he's still coming with me to her show this month. I think the girl's/guy's night out idea is a good compromise. You guys don't have to be together 100% of the time, especially when that keeps you from seeing Eisley. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Thanks guys. I also feel that we don't need to be together all the time, and in fact our schedules are so full that we don't spend that much time together as it is. *sigh* Maybe that is why she wanted to go with me. I just think she has unrealistic expectations about a lot of things, but then if you all knew what I know you'd realize that she's lived an unreal life. I feel simultaneously lucky and cursed because of this. I know things will work out, but I thank you all for the moral support and for listening and responding. Jaime it is good to see you're still on the boards. You're a good man. I'll see if she likes the idea of a guy's/girl's night out. Be sure to tell her that people on an internet forum thought it would be best if you had a guy's night out. I'm not laughing at the advice, it's good but she might not understand. _________________
