I think this a beautiful song and I was just wondering why the melody at the beginning of the song is so familiar. It's right before the singing starts and reminds me of a song from long ago (possibly a children's song though I'm not sure).

Your music is amazing, keep up the good work.

woah... déjà vu! I swear I've seen someone post these exact same words before. Either here or on another forum. I can't remember... but woah... good luck with finding out!

Does anyone know? Does the band even know the song I'm referring to or is it just by chance that it sounds like some other song?

I checked the Marvelous Things EP case and it said nothing. I doubt it's from /is another song. I'd PM a band member or someone (maybe Kim?) who might know if you need to know that bad.

I don't understand. The singing pretty much comes right in at the very first of the song, in the versions I've heard.

I think they're talking about the part with it sounds like feet are stepping in mud and it sounds like waves and then the intro chord comes in.

It could be a canned effect (or effects). Or maybe it is from an out-of-copyright movie. hmm

My mistake, I meant the singing part before she says, "I've gone away, I can't stay..."

The part I'm referring to starts with:
At the bottom of the ocean...

and ends with:
...He was so proud, always so proud.
