i am turning into one of those indier-than-thou kids.
it's one of those things that you can't help but do eventually.
when takling to those i deem "posers" i don't talk about bands i don't want to lose as "mine".
when talking to someone that knows their stuff, i try to namedrop something eclectic that'll throw them off.
why?
what can i do about this?
suggestions?

I have fun with it because when they try and namedrop something that they think I wouldn't know about I just make stuff up and it shuts them up

e.g

Indieitis kid-Paul,have you heard of [insert weird band here]?

Me-na dude,are they good

indieitis kid- ya,they rock, bit like early radiohead cross the pixies

Me-oh yeah? cool..oh BTW have you heard of the vomit monkeys(a name I made up that second)

kid-no

me-you haven't???? hahahahahahaha..I thought you were a full on indie dude???

kid*walks away ashamed

see!!

well if you want, you can list a bunch of your favorite bands, and then i can laugh at how popular and non-indie they really are.......and then your indieitis will go down a little bit

there's a reason we aspire to be indie.
does anyone know why?

it's a mystery

it's weird though how being 'indie" is now cool unlike in the late 80's/ early 90's when it was totally unpopular.I had a lot of people pick on me for dressing the way I did and liking the music I did

so indie now being cool contradicts & defeats the whole idea of being "indie" in the first place if that makes any sense Razz

i wonder what the indie bumper stickers will say.............I remember seeing ones that said "I'm so goth, I'm already dead".............Maybe I will make some that say "I'm so indie, my clothes are too tight and have cut off the circulation and bloodflow in my body and now i might wreck this car"

I don't think most bumpers are that big though

one time a my roommates friends roommate, this really annoying girl, was at our apartment and we were all watching Buffalo '66 and a few people in the room were like "I don't like this movie, its a little too weird for me".........which is understandable, i like the movie, but i surely can see how it wouldn't be in some peoples tastes,.........anyways this girl all got mad and was like "You don't like it? Its indie! You just don't get it because its indie!" all condescendingly.........That girl was so mean.

oh and thanks for saying it was hilarious, you are too kind
