I really like a line from the Walt Whitman poem "The Wound Dresser", a nice piece of anti-war literature. The line goes something like, "I never knew you, yet I think I could not refuse this moment to die for you, if that would save you." I highly, highly, highly recommend the poem. I'm also a fan of one of the last line, if not the last line (I can't quite remember) from the book Johnny Got His Gun, another nice peice of anti-war writing and it goes something like, "You point the way you masters of men, you point the way, and let us point the gun." If you haven't noticed, I'm not too big on war...(enter political statement likely to piss off half of the forum) unlike our war mongering president... _________________ I think that it's brainless to assume that making changes to your window's view will give a new perspective.

"No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be; Am an attendant lord, one that will do To swell a progress, start a scene or two, Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool, Deferential, glad to be of use, Politic, cautious, and meticulous; Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse; At times, indeed, almost ridiculous-- Almost, at times, the Fool." "We have lingered in the chambers of the sea By sea-girls wreathed with sea-weed red and brown Till human voices wake us, and we drown." Excerpts from TS Eliot's "The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock" |
