Yeah I was trying to remember how many kids you have and then I saw this thread is from 2008.

I have two boys now, 6 and 9. One is a freaking angel the other is too much like his old man

I wondered if the forum still existed. Two things made me think about it. The first was the news about Kim which Ashleigh told me about. The second was Ashleigh reminding me Saturday was the anniversary of us meeting in person. So I came to see if this place was still here. It is. And one of the first topics I see is this one! Wow.

Ashleigh and I met in person on February 18, 2005 at an Eisley show at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas. We would marry 9 months later. We got an apartment for a short time and got a house (where we still live) in 2006. James came along in 2008 and Lucinda in 2010. That makes them 15 and 12 now.

We still go to shows sometimes. Last year it was Phoebe Bridgers, Fleet Foxes, and The Shins. In a week we'll see Maggie Rogers.

Being active on this forum feels like a lifetime ago. In the years since, I've spent a lot of time on social media, particularly Twitter, but nothing ever captured the magic of this place. During my time in this community I was motivated enough to go out and meet some of you in person. That's a huge deal because I'm really shy and socially anxious. I wish I could have gotten past those feelings to get to know some of you better.

My memories of spending time here are minimal. The place looks familiar and your user names look familiar, but I don't really have specific memories. That makes me a bit sad. But I do know that being a part of this community was an incredibly important part of my life. I was a bit lost after college and it helped me get back on track. I got out of my shell just a little and did some things I might not have done otherwise. Ultimately it was responsible for me meeting Ashleigh which changed my life.

On January 28, 2003 I saw Coldplay in Houston. I decided to get there early and I caught the opening act, a little band from Tyler, Texas called MossEisley. I enjoyed them so much that I visited their website when I got home from the show. I may have even joined the forum that night. Twenty years later it's still here.

my kids are 17 and 15 now. This week i take my oldest on her first college visit. It's crazy how time flies.

I remember rocking her to sleep as a baby singing Lost at Sea to her.
I remember my youngest singing Smarter to Sherri on twitter.

Lots of memories of this place. of varying emotions.
At one point i had quite a few of you on social media. But i really dont have any social media these days.
I do talk to one person semi regularly on the phone. he actually texted me today to check out the page and see the news.

so here i am back again. getting involved on here was always interesting for me. It was my first introduction to what people would now call a "clique" i guess.
at first i felt like an outsider given i was new to the scene. but in time i nudged my way in.

coming back here is almost like a high school reunion sometimes. sad to see some of the threads gone though.

its funny to think that a semi popular band from tyler texas has had such a vast influence on my life. from family, to internet. so relationships. everything.

but all in all, i dont think i'd change it for the world.

Wow. That's awesome. What colleges was your daughter looking at? I'm just realizing I'm replying almost a year later.
