Sea Post King

Since I was so thrilled to be named a "Sea Post King" on my first day here Cool, I thought I'd put together a little classical guitar rendition of "Just Like We Do." I've been working on it for a couple of days. I recorded it on a little Kodak digital camera (DX7440) in the time-honored place for recordings (the bathroom). I'm playing my 1967 Ramirez, which is a wonderful instrument (Christopher Parkening's producer, an old friend of mine, keeps asking to buy it from me.)

The recording isn't perfect; there are a few flubbed notes here and there, and it obviously lacks the plaintive voices of Stacy and Sherri, but I hope you like it. The video is here.

PS: Until I looked up videos on YouTube to figure out this song, it hadn't registered with me that Stacy was playing the guitar. Impressive.

PPS: I know this is probably a massive copyright violation, but I see that there are lots of other covers linked on here, so I'm assuming for now that it's basically OK. If not, someone let me know and I'll be happily pull the video.

Very cool. I especially enjoyed when the multi-part harmony came in.

Oh my, that's lovely. If you ever record it as audio rather than video, I would love a copy.

This also makes me want to hear "Just Like We Do" as sung by a young Leonard Cohen and his backup singers. Wink

I was going to make an mp3 of this for everyone (myself included) but I can't 'cause it's on Google Video and not Youtube. If someone wants to download the file and then post it on Youtube, I can make an mp3 of it, but I'm too lazy to do both.

Thanks, y'all! I used Google Video because the file was too large for YouTube for some reason. But just now, I figured out how to convert the original video file to an MP3, and uploaded it here.

Any suggestions for other Eisley songs that might sound nice on classical guitar?

i think we should get rid of the "shameless" area on this board since all covers people do seem to end up on the eisleyblog section.

organize people organize! Smile

awesome cover by the way.

That's not the only thing it's used for though. Fail. Cool

That sounded really nice. Just didn't sound like the song to me. Smile
