Sos I bought Nylon Magazine's book Play the other day, and I was not at all surprised to see the girls listing their choices for a mixtape. I have transcribed it for you all, seeing as I have no better use of my time.

(Sorry for the crap quality of the pix, no scanner.)

Full spread.

Eisley could show the Partridge clan a thing or two. Consisting of four siblings and one cousin, the Texas-based quintet keep it all in the (talented) family. They released two full-length studio albums before any of the band members hit twenty (O rly?) Confused , and have shared the stage with the likes of Hot Hot Heat, Coldplay, and Snow Patrol. Here sisters Chauntelle, Stacy, and Sherri DuPree deliver a Mix-Tape of the songs that inspire them the most.

Chauntelle DuPree
1. Imogen Heap
"Hide and Seek" -- Speak for Yourself
I just lover her voice in this song. There's no music but her vocals carry the melody. It's just brilliant!

2. M. Ward
"Let's Dance" -- Transfiguration of Vincent
A David Bowie cover. It's romantic and sweet. I love it!

3. Modest Mouse
"The World at Large" -- Good News for People Who Like Bad News
I love the flow of this song so much! It makes me happy no matter what.

Stacy DuPree
4. Paul McCartney
"Junk" -- McCartney
When I first heard this sing I didn't recognize it as Paul McCartney because it had such a mysticism and melancholy to it. It's very beautiful and sentimental to me.

5. Carole King
"So Far Away" -- Tapestry
My parents always used to sing his and harmonize to each other . It brings back good memories.

6. Fleetwood Mac
"Silver Springs" -- Rumors, Remastered Version
I love Stevie's voice on this song. So much hurt and jealousy in the way she sings the lyrics "Did you say that she's pretty?" and "Baby I don't wanna know." Absolutely amazing.

Sherri DuPree
7. Neutral Milk Hotel
"In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" -- In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
never would have guessed lol Laughing
This song will forever be my favorite song ever written. There is something so beautiful about it that it's almost painful.

8. The Beatles
"Oh! Darling" -- Abbey Road
Paul McCartney sings this song with everything he's got and I love it to death. It's so gusty and amazing.

remember, please do not shoot the messenger.... Crying or Very sad

9. New Found Glory
"On My Mind" -- Coming Home
It's about completely loving someone and cherishing the time you get to spend with them before you leave to go on tour again. Plus, my husband wrote it. Ha!

wow! thanks for letting us know!
i immediately looked to see where i could find it and according to amazon.com, it was released on april 29, 2008, so it Is quite new. they probably have been compiling it for some time though.

link: http://www.amazon.com/Play-NYLON-Editors-Nylon-Magazine/dp/0789316927/ ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209869858&sr=8-2

amazon.com sells it for $18.15, which seems kindof hefty, but apparently that's at 34% off, so. i guess that makes it a good deal. anyway, i think i'm buying one. perhaps i can get some autographs when the band sees me patiently waiting outside of the El Rey four hours prior to the show!

thanks for the pics & transciptions. i like stacy's contributions best (Macca and the Mac - hey, now there's a TV special waiting to happen!) i like the band photo too, has the Beatles Red/Blue-greatest-hits-album-style look.

I'm really pleased to hear that one of Sherri's favorite songs was the Beatles,(since it was on Abbey Roads,) Oh! Darling. To me, McCartney's tour de force, along with Maybe I'm Amazed!

On a semi-related note: Stevie Nicks got the inspiration to write this song while on the tour bus on the Capital Beltway. She saw a sign for Silver Spring, and thought "That sounds like a nice place to live."
Silver Spring is only like 10 miles from me, so I've always thought that story was cool.
