for whatever reason today i was thinking i wanted to take pictures in a photobooth. then i was trying to think of a movie where it was heavily featured..........duh, Amelie. while searching for that i came across this site:

http://www.photobooth.net/locations/

most of the photobooths in malls are now digital, but these people are interested in ones that use the old-style photographic process.

i wondered if anyone here has taken pictures in a "real" photobooth and if they then wanted to post the results. then you maybe could even contribute to the website above and list some they may not know about. surely there have to be some somewhere in East Texas.

weird that this hit me today. i don't know that i've ever taken my photo in any photobooth my entire life. i knew there was one at the Broadway Square Mall but when i finally found it i think two teenagers were making out in it.

here's an Andy Warhol photobooth pic:

since there are people on this board from all over the US and the world, it's very possible one of these may be very near you......you could work at one of the places that has one.........or maybe you even live in one of them?
.............can i spend the night?
(i'm a clean boy)

we used to have about 3 or 4 traditional booths in our mall in town. I have a few strips from when I was little. I haven't been to the mall in a few years but I think they replaced them with digital ones.

I have this book of found/collected photo strips of people from the mid to early 1900's. It's great.

there's one at the bowling alley in pismo beach, ca.
right next to where i worked.
my bosses son, who's about eight years old now,
used to drag me in there all the time to take pictures.
too bad i don't have any since he kept them all.

There's one in a gift shop in the basement of an art museum in Balboa Park, San Diego. I think it's the old fashioned kind--it looks like it from the outside--but I never tried it.

The only photobooth I ever tried took digital shots and they looked like crap. Sad

there's a really super old one in the arcade at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
it's cool.
the pictures smell really bad when they first come out, but turn out awesome once they dry.
first time i took a photo in that one, i was 6 months old w/ my teenage parents.
last time i did was last month with my almost middle-aged parents. :]
its got some history.

I went in one at a photo museum in Balboa Park, San Diego last summer.

The pictures were terrible (but, to be fair, it wasn't the camera's fault).

cool stories.

no one wants to put any of their results up?

if i was a millionaire - or had the money - i think it would be sweet to have one in the house by the front door and any time someone came over you would have them take pics. i think i read a story on that website where someone rented one for their wedding. that would be cool to have all your friends and family do that and then make a picturebook out of it.

i remember TRL a long, long time ago - i think when Carson Daly still hosted - had one and they would have the guests take pics before they came on. that would be cool to see those if they're up somewhere.

Hahaha, there's one on that list in Kansas City...

Birdies Panties, Kansas City

I might have to visit just because of the name, haha.

you did notice - if you click on the name there is usually an actual picture of the booth at the location and usually then a photo of the person who found/took it.

i went back to the Broadway Square Mall one today and actually did one. i was thinking it was a rapid fire kind of thing, i was really trying to think of 4 different poses, but it gave ample time for you to carefully plan each one. i picked Black and White (other choices - Color and Sepia) and Normal (choices of different borders) to make it look more like the older ones.

it was $3 and you take four photos. it prints off two sets side by side with perferation in the middle. i think it took about 2 minutes after the last photo for to come out the chute.

now i remember why i hate photos of myself, but i think i may pick one of the four and put it up here or make the whole thing so small not much detail can be taken from it. Laughing

oh yeah, if you want to post photobooth pics it doesn't have to come from an older one, just an actual physical photobooth of any kind (and not a photobooth type series of pictures put together on computer).
