According to Garron's post the DuPree homestead got hit pretty hard by Ike! Trees blown down,(I can relate to that,) fences blown down, (that too,) and loss of air conditioning,(the worst)! It sounds like everyone evacuated before the storm though! _________________ Mike=] |

To clarify he's talking about Garron's house. The picture he uploaded you could see some siding got torn off. Eep. http://www.eisley.com/journals/garron/_35367/ |

My friend's home in Houston got pretty messed up from what I hear. She's going to skip school on Thursday and Friday to try and fix some stuff down there. Her parents are both out of the country at the moment. _________________ "I shall take the heart," returned the Tin Woodsman; "for brains do not make one happy, and happiness is the best thing in the world." |

My family in Katy (near houston for you non-TX people) had a bunch of old oaks fall down... one snapped in half and landed right in the pool. They were closed up in the room under the stairs and said it sounded like the house was breaking or something. More family of mine in houston lost miles of fencing on their properties and stuff. Hurricanes make me glad I don't live too close to the coast... _________________ |

Yeah I live in Spring which is in northwest Houston, and we had a neighbors tree fall into our backyard... the tree is huge! The diameter is at least a foot and a half. Most of my neighborhood has trees and fences down, but no damage to the actual houses thank goodness. My great aunt who lives closer to downtown had a tree fall into their house during the storm, and thier house started to flood from the inside. Most still don't have electricity. We got ours on Sunday night ^-^ But the gas situation is really bad. Lines go on forever when a station actual gets gas. Most people including my family are trying to decide if going to work is worth running out of gas in two days. It's a tight situation. _________________ |

This is odd: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hotstories/6008229.html When we had our hurricanes here in 2005(4 of them,) when we saw the Power company trucks come into our neighborhood, everybody cheered! The local power companies pull in help from other companies in the region. These people have to leave their own families to put in long hours until the power is back on! And it's also dangerous work, with a lot of these men and women being injured! You'd think people would be more appreciative! Some of the things noted in the article show a total lack of class _________________ Mike=] |

She must be without power all this time, that would suck. _________________ we're really not alone, we have each other |
