So I finally got a hold of my brother's guitar today and this is the FIRST time I've actually sat down and seriously tried to play. Does anyone think Eisley songs are too hard for beginners like me? I started out with the intro to Blackbird by the Beatles but I quickly got bored and tried to find tabs for Eisley songs. I can now sorta play the intro to Escaping Song and the really cool verse that Chauntelle plays in A Sight to Behold. My fingers are so sore, it hurts to type.

The first tab I learned was HATS. I wanted to learn the song that Chauntelle really rocked out to at my first show, which I figured out was HATS. So I would practice it over and over again while listening, trying to keep up until one day I could and without much struggle.

They're very very easy. Especially if you learn the chords. I think Eisley songs were the first ones I ever learned.

Chords are the easiest, and Eisley chords are pretty easy.
But, generally the songs are pretty easy to do.

The first tab i ever did was Blackbird, too.
Very Happy

honestly, they are pretty easy. i have been learning the guitar in small amounts over the last year and a half to two years and i know how to play:
Come Clean
Over the Mountains
Many Funerals
Sea King
The Winter Song
Taking Control
I Could Be There for You
Just Like We Do
Golly Sandra
The Escaping Song
Go Away
Marvelous Things
Brightly Wound
The Mainframe
and possibly more, i just can't think of them if i can.

however, it probably helps that i have a brother who can correct me and that i can play these songs on the piano, plus many more.

Have you possibly any sheet music? And I envy you for knowing that last song...

Yeah they seem pretty easy, chords are pretty easy and some people start off with them. I don't know what kind of guitar you are using, but you should try some good classical songs...they are a bit harder than typical acoustic guitar songs and some electric guitar songs, but they are good to do and very fun to play. You play in a different style thought called finger picking...you could probably google that and get something.

Most classical guitar teachers will not like you to use tabs for classical songs (I do it anyway), but since you probably don't know notes...

i don't, sorry. i can't read the music for guitar, i can just play it.

it's actually a stolen song from a group of stolen songs called "The Baby', they're just demos that one of their "friends" swiped off of their computer and posted them onto the internet. no one is actually supposed to have them.

it's kind of a touchy topic, too. that's why i almost didn't put it up on the list.

it's really pretty simple to start with guitar, i taught myself.

however this is only for learning the basics, it takes a lot to actually get GOOOD.

but basically, just look up the chords. you can google them or go to chordies.com and pick a song and they'll have the chords on there as well as how to play them on the upper right hand side of the screen.

to know how to play the chords:
it'll be sideways
like
_
_
_
_
_
_

the very top dash is the high e
and the bottom one is the low e.
on the guitar, the high e is the thinnest string and the higher pitched one. the strings are: E B G D A E.

and then the dashed that divide the things like:
--|--
--|--
--|--
--|--
--|--
--|--
represent the different frets.
there will be different dots in the different strings for the different frets which tell you where to put your fingers, that was really confusing for me
but you'll get the hang of it.
it helps if you know someone who plays and knows this so they can show you, cos i had to ask my dad for a lot of help the first few monthes.

i probably didnt explain that very well, cos im pretty bad at the whole guitar buisness. but if you google it, something good is bound to come up.

Whoa same here, i still play it to this day, and that was like sooo long ago maybe 2 years, that and about a girl by nirvana were my first. I know how to play alot of Eisley songs on bass, and guitar, more on bass though.
like for bass Sunfeet
Ten cent Blues
One day i slowly floated away
Go Away
Plenty of Paper
My lovley
Golly Sandra
Marvelous things
I wasn't prepared
Lost at Sea etc.
I'm a big fan of the bass on Room Noises as one can prolly tell.

haha well, i just goatta say that chauntelle and sherri would be glad to know that one of the main reasons i suddenly decided to start playing the guitar was simple so i could play eisley songs.

tawny i think u shud pick up that guitar of urs and just try something! i thot i got pretty far on my first day. but then again i do have past musical training fm when i was a kid. since i've started 2 days ago, i figured out the main verses for a sight to behold, blackened crown, and escaping song... it's such a great feeling to finally be able to produce some of the music i've loved for so long!
