I need to read a book (from a list) for my English class. There will be small-group discussions on said book. Those three are the ones I narrowed it down to.

If you've only read one or two of the books, at least tell me which one and if it was good or bad. Please!

I've only read The Handmaid's Tale & Jane Eyre, but I would go with the former. It's a great book, I absolutely loved it. There will definitely be a lot for you to discuss in class. I expected to like Jane Eyre a lot more than I did. It really didn't resonate with me. Frankly, it nearly put me to sleep, and that never happens to me.

The 'Stranger,' is much shorter than 'Jane Eyer,' and way cooler!

The Handmaid's Tale is my least favorite of those three. I really liked Jane Eyre but the Camus book would make a better discussion. Although discussing existentialism is kind of depressing. Smile

I've only read The Stranger, and I read it in 10th grade, so it was 4 or 5 years ago. My impression of it at that point was that it was one of the strangest books I had ever read. I think that if I were to re-read it now, I might have a different opinion, because I would probably read it differently. or maybe not! Wink

Jane Eyre is quite possibly the worst book I have ever read.

Just sayin'.

I've only read The Handmaid's Tale and The Stranger. I recall liking the Handmaid's Tale better... it was different, that's for sure. Not to say that The Stranger isn't. Read both! The Stranger is really short anyway.

It takes a long time for anything to really start happening, but in the end it's worth it.

I've only read Jane Eyre, it was alright. I don't see what one could discuss about it.. it was a bit dull in some parts, I liked it better towards the end.

I chose The Stranger so that I could read the original French version as well.
