i was on the copyright website as i had recently had some songs finally registered. went through the catalog and found my work, and then i got bored and started looking up random things by friends and other musicians. i came across a list of old eisley songs copyright at around 2003. do the titles Dancing, The Fourth Song, The Dragon Song (probably they all surrounded me), or Pitch Black Room mean anything to anyone? just curious to what these songs are like. there were a few really old ones that boyd mentioned in journals documenting the recording of room noises like Good Times. Pretender was on the list Very Happy, and so was Becoming You, and Michael's Song.

I was watching a random video on SYP just last night where they were looking at a list of songs to practice and one was "Good Times". They didn't play it but it's a funny video:

I think it's so crazy there's this huge underground catalog of songs nobody has heard before. It's like a secret world, like Narnia or something...

That's cause once you get into the business side of music as an artist, you copyright EVERY idea, whether you like it or not, cause once you get a publishing deal, there's always the chance that someone will want to perform that material, and you would stand to prosper if it goes well. So, every piece of writing that gets to the draft or demo stage should, and in some cases, does get submitted for copyright. You can be back water about it and mail a song to someone or yourself and keep a sealed, postmarked copy, but it's more professional to submit it to the library of congress and do it properly.

When I was really into writing, I kept trying to write as many songs as possible so I could forgo having to submit again and again and incur fees. Then I sort of forgot about it. You can submit entire catalogs of work, and that's what I'm going to do at some point, I've written upwards of 200 songs, and have guitar arrangements for most, some I've tabbed, others I just demoed on tape and forgot how to play, but that's all you need for a copyright, a recording, notation if you have it, or lyric sheets/ prose, if it's just writing. Send it, and become part of American History. It's like the library of dreams in The Sandman series, where all these great works but legendary artist reside because the artist never make anything of them in their waking life.

i wish i could hear every eisley song ever written.

that would be fantastic. even the ones that they probably think sound like poop would still seem so amazing to us fans because it shows more facets that we don't see.

Ha ha, excellent analogy Smile

I'd like for them to emerge from that wardrobe too. (Which in this context is much different than coming out of the closet!)

Funny thing is, whenever I've heard unreleased material from Eisley that I hadn't heard before, I've liked it. Often a lot.

There are some released tracks I can't say the same for.

Mildly ironic, I've always thought, but I'm not really eisley's target demographic, so not wholly surprising.
