How about selling soundboard recordings of the shows like Phish and the Dead do? Its an almost cost free revenue stream and I would like to get some. I can't travel to every show but for say 6.99 for a FLAC or 256-320k mp3 copy of the show, I could follow them on tour and not have to go on tour.

How about it? If this has been done before please disregard. Cool

Pearl jam does it, and the Pixies did it on their last tour, but the logistics of their operation was a little more involved.

I know venues (especially smaller ones) tend to charge an arm and a leg for video rights, but I'm not sure about audio. I bet they could get away with it.

I'd buy some shows! And I bet new songs like Sad would sell really well too.

They can't charge a dime for audio rights. The copyright of the live music performance belongs to the performers unless this is bargained away.

Eisley has their own Sound Rig from what I recall, and all you need is an aux send, monitor out etc. to get a stereo feed into a minidisc, mp3 recorder, tape deck, whatever to transfer from. It's easy enough to pull stuff over from an external source into Garageband and then share to Itunes in a given format. It will be the raw live mix, and if you want to edit you can.

I think they've been bringing their own FOH with them since the Room Noises days, so this should be relatively easy to do. Boyd often takes audio for his live vids from the soundboard, and the couple of live tracks they've released have sounded fantastic, so this should be doable without too much hassle as long as they have a system in place for getting the shows up within a couple days. I think it's an awesome idea. I would be especially interested in getting shows from tours with different flavors, like the acoustic tour I had to miss, or that show they did with an orchestra.

If they have a digital FOH board, they just upload the show to livedownloads.com after the show and its for sale within minutes of the upload. If the FOH is analogue, then they would have to send the audio (on Cds) to the office and livedownloads would convert the recordings.

The production is cheap. I watched them do it at a phish show last year. Took them about 30 minutes.

I agree that this is a great idea. I'd love to have a board recording after a show, especially one I saw in person.

Do the harmonies sound good live, or are they studio creations?

Definitely not a studio creation (though parts of Room Noises were annoyingly autotuned). Sherri and Stacy harmonize beautifully. Even though their live show is not as dynamic as some, I would say Eisley is a band that must be seen live to get the full effect.

^ Truth be told, the harmonies on the earlier material are even better live because of their vocal maturation and their overall comfort and freedom to expand their performances.

It wasn't the band's doing. There was a lot of evil record label pull on Room Noises to produce "hit singles." They gave the band a good bit of grief on not being produced enough, radio enough (from what I recall).

Don't remove any songs or get any impression that the band isn't pure and legitimate. The live performances are above and beyond their albums--the harmonies are more amazing live than you could imagine.
