Does playing softball mean she can't be a good Supreme Court Justice?

I'm pretty sure we had a thread on Sotomayor. Why are we slacking on Kagen?

Read her senior thesis from Princeton now, before it is taken down again (it's been taken down everywhere it has been posted)...

Or if you don't have time to read the whole thing, read the last 2 pages.

As for the poll, her playing softball would have no effect on her being qualified or not qualified for the court. Absurd question, really. Who hasn't played softball?

That's a shot from a pickup game, look at her get-up, if I don't see her in a uni the stereotype doesn't stick.

What are you implying?

Also, that's a long ass thesis (130 pages) for a Bachelor's degree.

I didn't imply anything.

That is a given, isn't it? Acceptance rate of 10%. 97% of those admitted were in the Top 10% of their high school class. Appears they have high academic standards.

As you have not taken my bait, I will not take yours... Laughing Because we're just playing semantics games here, right? Clearly both of our questions were rhetorical, right? (consider this recasting my line, of course the hook is more obvious this time.. Anyone with with any fishing knowledge knows when fishing with sinking lines, you will need to recast your line throughout the day...).

I'm just surprised you didn't play the 'lack of judicial experience' card. I mean, did you know that Obama had zero executive experience before becoming President?

Laughing I made that point (about Obama) over and over again in 2008. Nobody listens! As for Kagen, it is probably an asset and not a liability that she hasn't been a judge. Who knows, maybe the left will get a surprise. Six currently on the Supreme Court were appointed by Republican presidents, clearly a couple surprises in there. You can't always know for certain how someone will be once they get on the Supreme Court, even less so someone who has never been a judge.

Yeah, I agree. It worked out for Thurgood Marshall and William Rehnquist.

from a brief on the supreme court case US government vs Stevens, she is quoted as saying this.....

“Whether a given category of speech enjoys First Amendment protection depends upon a categorical balancing of the value of the speech against its societal costs.”

You guys need to read up on this lady. She's kinda scary. This is far from the first quote she has made like this, but this one illustrates her feelings on the first amendment well. I'm not sure we want someone who feels this way about the first amendment in the supreme court. Supressing free speech is a can of worms I don't think we want to open up.
