i just looked at the most recent AP and in it there's a blurb about Jesse from Brand New, asking about his favorite things from the past year and he said his favorite song was "Marvelous Things" and that it gave him somewhat creepy dreams... Just thought that was cool, and should be recognized... _________________ This one gang kept wanting me to join, 'cause I'm pretty good with a bowstaff. xanga... because you said so maybe.. pictures? Beautiful song. He got to sing it live too. That'll stay with him. Saw the movie "Monster" 2 nights ago and afterwards, had that song on rpt while my scarred mind tried to pick through the movie. Shivers the whole time. In Bangladesh, people gather in open fields to play music. Some of them have single-string, guitar like things. Others just have things to bang on. They all sing from their hearts without sheet music, and without any idea where the music is coming from. Some say it sounds like an unsortable drone. Others say it is possibly the most beautiful thing they’ve ever heard. I tend to believe the second group. Why else would people do it if there wasn’t something magical to it? Another thing. Last night, I saw Sarah harmer at a live radio broadcast. Beautiful music. Her lyrics are so simple and honest. I was watching her eyes. She was looking around at the other 4 guys in her band. I can’t imagine how it must feel for her to look around and see them all with their eyes closed and their heads swaying to her music. That’s what it boils down to. 4 other people who have devoted themselves 100% to her music. The drummer looked like Jay from Orgy. The bassist like Mike from Greenday. The guitarist looked like the redhead/glasses dude from Dazed and Confused. Point is, no matter what their style/taste appeared to be, they were all consumed by these mellow/rustic folks songs. Beautiful. I admired her. Doing what she loves. So, no real relevance to anything. Just that the Brand New dude was on stage pouring himself into someone eisley’s music. Freudian slip. Keep it up. Inspiring all the way. Check out hawksley workman’s new c.d. AS _________________ Not to pull your halo down... Jenga |
