that was pretty good. (here starts my opinion, dont kill me) I have seen eisley three times live, and they have yet to impress me with their live show. they have never been bad. they are just...ok. i would much prefer to listen to them on cd than live. unlike our lady peace, whom I have also seen three times. they are great live. don't ask me to pinpoint the reason. cuz I am not sure I can. _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... I get that, and I've felt the same way about most of the Eisley shows I've seen. They're not terribly dynamic. That's why that performance caught my eye--it's something unusual for them. No backing tracks, no worrying about sounding exactly like the record, just five people having a lot of fun with a great song. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

it was neat to see weston get down. that is for sure. all five of them are real talented. and know their instruments well. which is a rarity these days. _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... The one time I saw Eisley live was sort of anticlimactic, but I'd rather watch youtube videos of live performances than listen to the recorded songs. I LOVE them live, but the bits between songs are sort of ehh. _________________ Taylor | @thbrogan http://inconnumag.com |

I LOVE them live, but the bits between songs are sort of ehh. exactly. they don't really know how to work a room. but i prefer them live-- when the guitars and drums aren't turned into background mush by an idiot producer. however, they did rock a bit harder in live performances before the acoustic combinations tour. mr. pine, hats, and over the mountains have always been live hi-lights for me. _________________ |

i have never seen eisley live, so i wouldnt really be able to critique exactly how they are at performing, but i have always thought that they would be quite mellow seeing as how they're music is, i still would love to see them perform since they have been one of my favorite bands for quite some time. _________________ a line allows progess, a circle does not </ a> |

Yeah, I'm always the one complaining about their live shows failing to impress me...performance wise and entertainment wise. However, they seem to have really upped their game as far as music-playing is concerned this past tour. The Brewtones show was flawless in that regard. There is still a really awkward vibe for me when they're not playing...Eisley are not "room commanders." But that doesn't bother me so much now that I'm satisfied with the rest of it. (Even Sherri's vocals had my jaw dropping. Probably everyone here knows that hadn't happened before this tour. I felt like a proud parent or something. ) |

The last time I saw Eisley live (which I'm pretty sure was during the same tour this video was made), they totally brought it. Incredibly dynamic show: the fast songs rocked and the slow songs had an uncharacteristic soulfulness, I was incredibly impressed. Of course, that time was a huge emotional rollercoaster for the band, and they were probably hard pressed to out-rock the lame emo bands that they were stuck with opening for them. There were tons of highlights to that show--including a drunk man catcalling the whole night, with Sherri telling him to shut up and leave and later threatening to throw a shoe at him; and the notorious lyric change on "Combinations." Great night. |

I was most impressed with them on their final noises tour, Chicago show. Of course it may be because that was my first Eisley show. But I remember being somewhat blown away by several of the songs at that show. The show with Mute Math, the show with Vedera/Myriad, I had a good time, but was not nearly as blown away. Nice video here! |

^ I saw them on the Vedera Myriad tour, it was my first published concert review, mostly because the show was very entertaining, and their banter with each other and to the crowd was really funny, which I noted. Lots of dead-pan and Observational humor from Sherri mainly. It made the show. No awkwardness, other than the flat no Sherri got from Chauntelle when she wanted to play her guitar because it was lighter and better. And musically they were dead on, though that was the tour were everyone was dogging Sherri for being "too into it" when she was singing. _________________ yup, that's my name. Musically they owned, and Sherri sounded spectacular. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |
