underwhelmed by the cover, but at least now we know it's not for The Valley...

Wow, is there a Chill In Here??? Laughing

I like what she did with the song, and Sherri's voice fits the sentiment of the song in a way that portrays the emotion in a way that I'm sure Kanye wished he could have conveyed organically.

Honestly, I say Sherri should make a new song (new verse lyrics at least) and "interpolate" the hook of Heartless. Her vocal melody on the Choruses is stellar, and I love how the guitar part sounds like a music box. A little vibraphone, and some cello for good measure I say.

The Hook makes it for me. I like it.

I like it. Sherri has one of the best Kanye covers of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Someone had to say it...

I'mma let you finish...

I like it a lot. Who knew that Sherri would ever cover Kanye and that it would sound so good and heartbreaking? Okay, I kind of figured I'd like it once I heard she did the cover but I'm liking it a lot.

I know, right? How could they be so heartless?

The cover's alright, but I'm not so sure about this statement:

"And sorry purists , i had to change a few lyrics. i just sounded way too dumb saying 'yo and homies'. enjoy. xo"

Is she implying that people who use the words 'yo' and 'homie' (requires separate scare quotes [lol, irony (i'm not great at grammar, myself, but c'mon)]), without irony, are/sound dumb? Because these terms are merely a product of enculturation (and pretty specific cultures at that) and really don't speak to intelligence levels.

Yeezy's not only intellectually gifted, he's also a complete musical genius.

Nah, I think she meant specifically that SHE sounded dumb saying all that stuff. Her version's got no swagger. Now, another Texan who could do her version With the Yo's would be Erykah Badu. It wouldn't sound dumb cause she's got Swagger Razz

Hmm, I guess. "I sound really dumb saying 'yo' and 'homie' [because I've got no swagger]" does work. Hope so! Wink

Covering songs is awesome.
Not my favorite, but I hope she had fun doing it.

Kanye bores me, and people doing quiet pretty covers of hiphop and rap bore me unless their name is Ben Folds or Nina Gordon. I was pretty bored by this cover, but I can't blame it on Sherri.
