Well, actually, I read in an interview that HM did with Eisley and Stacy said it was about a father who wasn't around when his daughter when she was growing up... I'm wondering if this parallels with Kayla at all...

I need to find that interview.

I'm pretty sure that was written before they started writing more personal songs. It's just a story, more like a Decemberists song. They don't know any people made of gumdrops, either.

I don't know, I know quite a few people who are made of gumdrops.

But yeah, Stacy said in the interview that it was a made-up story about what I explained up there. But I can't help but wonder about the last part. It may have nothing to do with it but it makes me curious if she may have drawn some inspiration from it. I'm just guessing though.

My guess it was about Christie growing up and them being out on the road and not seeing her. Then again, first time I heard the song was in Canton at a show - the beat immediately stood out to me and I never forgot it - and that was before the Laughing City EP was even released, right (so they may not have had the long tours yet)? Been toooooo long.

Hope it's not too lame to post the review I wrote myself, but here it is. It's the first piece I've written in a while, and my first album review.

If you could, I dunno, leave some comments/rate/like/share it that would be cool too. Smile

^ I really like the review! It's not too long but not too short either. A good way to build some intrigue for people who don't know about them...

Whew! Thanks for the reassurance; I was a little worried about it. Well, not worried, I just really wanted to do a good job so that EVR doesn't think they wasted their time sending me a review copy. Wink

Cool, have they ever been featured in Relevant Magazine?
They seem like prime candidates - should get a cover imo.
