Ok, i dont know the story behind "Pretender", ie - why i cant find lyrics for it anywhere, why nobody talks about it, why the band doesnt like it? Is it Eisley's work? Can anyone PLEASE help me out with the lyrics? Whats the story behind it? sorry for the redundancy...i'm just digging as much as i can and cant find much?! _________________ -rise above- |

It is Eisley's work. Since Boyd (or someone.. most likely Boyd) took the lyrics off the main site I'm going to respect that and not post them here. I don't know why the band doesn't like it. They have stated that they didn't like it and I just accepted that fact. I'm sure there's a good reason behind it. _________________ "Jesus Shaves!" - Jamie |

It was thier first radio song (I think), and if I remember correctly it was written when Stacy was 8. The band really doesn't like the song anymore and stopped playing it some time ago. They will acknowledge that it exists, but they don't support it anymore. As for lyrics, I don't have them either. _________________

ok, so he (whoever, boyd, etc...whatever "power at be") took them off. Why? Why cant i find any lyrics online in general - go Google it, tell me if you can find a link... why the big hush hush? If we can listen to it, why cant we read what it says? I find it odd that a band would be so 'hush-hush' about something...whether it is seen well in their eyes or not - very cryptic and odd if you ask me... does anyone out there NOT mind posting it in a public forum? (its just a few lines of words...) _________________ -rise above- |

(its just a few lines of words...) Umm..."power at be"? That would be their dad, at the band's request. The song....there is nothing wrong with the song. It's just that the band feels they have grown past that in style and maturity. It's not one that they like anymore. If you were a painter, you may not want anyone to see your beginning pieces. You may choose to have those put away. That's all it amounts to. Nothing "hush-hush". I personally, like the song, but I like all their songs. |

Ok, mxc...you'll have to learn how to read - I (did) google it, i was just asking others to check it out if they had an inkling of curiousity. Next time the band needs a teenage forum bodyguard who is great at playing "i know you are but what am i", i'll pass your business card along. ----- As for the reason behind the fathers or whoevers pulling of the plug, i respect that and understand that. Even a father/whoever can be a 'power at be' which was apparently the issue of contention in the reply. Art is art once it is created. Perhaps maturity and acceptance of the past with changes in the future would soften such a sore subject held in the shadows. or am i the pretender for thinking that the full spectrum of an artist should be exhibited. _________________ -rise above- |

i like the song a lot. but it does sound like The Cranberries a bit. it really does sound different than the new Eisley. they have matured a lot. but you can still tell it's the same greatness. pretty cool, huh? i'm pretty sure if you turn it up loud enough and set your phasers to rock, you can decipher the words. |

Pretender is a good song, different from what they sound like now, but definitely still good. i didn't know chauntelle wrote that song. that's pretty cool- do you think she'll go back to writing? it would be awesome if she did. out of curiosity, which song was written by Stacy when she was 8? |

The song STacy wrote was called, "Michael's Song". It's never been recorded. BTW, I don't think it is a problem if someone wants the lyrics to Pretender. If someone wants to "pm" those to the person asking, (sorry, I forgot to check the name before I started this post), it's not a big deal. |
