I didn't realize this. The Christmas EPs aren't part of any Discography I can find. SYP has some album covers.l Are there still live links to 2009 & 2010?

Sounds like that could make up a complete album, right?

Finally listening:

Max sounds better on this one than the last one. His vocals are so pronounced, they definitely sound harsh against panned down acoustic guitars. Singing softly just isn't something he does. It's actually something he and Sherri have in common.

Their voices are distinct enough to cut through the mix with ease, so if I was to do one thing, I would bring up the guitar(s) in the mix and boost the mids and lows since neither of thing sing with much bass in their voices. I think the absence of low end steals away from the warmth that's the hallmark of acoustic sessions. The flipside would be to drown everything in reverb and lay on the harmonies in droves to go for an ethereal vibe, Merriment's calling card.

Merriment also plays it straight which I love.
Their music is steeped in Texas Folk and they accent it with great instrumentals and vocals.

THey are absolutely my favorite band right now.

Merriment do their thing well enough where i think it sort of forces everyone else to do something completely different. I think eisley is becoming a lab for them where they really do try out new sounds, or dig deeper into older ones. But it makes sense that for something like this that everything take on that enchanted folk quality that seems to be the Merriment caling card, it is Christmas after all, as bittersweet as that always is.

Amen to that. They could bring in session musicians and record a full-blown Christmas album (which is not a bad idea BTW) and sell it. Instead, they choose to record a few songs, despite all other distractions going on at this time of year, and give them away for free. FREE. Beats a dish of figgy pudding, that's for sure. Smile Thank you Eisley & extended Eisleyites!
