Love it! The beginning especially.

Just read the comparisons; DMB?! Lol. Initially sounds very much in line with my generation's interpretation of shoegaze/ambience (Weekend-ish), with a hint of folksy, post-Good News Modest Mouse and that unmistakeable Eisley vibe. It's a Stacy song though, so I'm not getting my hopes up for the album. Sorry.Razz

And don't forget about when they were talking about all the ideas they were bouncing off of each other just after Christmas 11', after Deep Space was recorded, but before it was released, or Sucre' for that matter. I get the feeling that they were vibing and playing off each other so these songs may end up being less distinguishable, in a good way.

I'll have to hear more. Don't really like what I hear. The instruments are a little grating.

@ManWil

True; was mostly thinking in terms of her being on lead vox (seemingly, anyway; it's a short clip after all) though.

Same. It doesn't seem like a good song to listen to if you have a headache.

I was actually censoring myself earlier.

I was really thinking that the Sucre' album probably impressed the crap out of everyone in the band and inspired them to let percussion play a more prominent role, and go for vibe through and through, to the point where they chose Jeremy Larson mix the record even though they had great results with Andy Freeman. I don't know that to be true, but I will say this:

Laugh It Off would have maybe been the best, if not one of the best songs had it been used on A Minor Bird, and Currents sounds like an Eisley/ Sucre collaboration in a good way. If I were a betting man i'd say the band as a whole has chosen to go with that flow. I also like that Christie will be singing on this record, I'm learning to pick out her voice when she sings with Stacy, cause I had trouble in the past, and her vocals on Laugh It Off are just so rich. She has such a warm smooth lower register. Bring on the 4-part harmonies.

I luv thissssss. <3 <3

All that echo-y guitar jam-iness (ha, I still can't hang with you guys as far as technical terms go). I'm into it and I definitely understand the name "Currents" since it sounds like drowning, in a really pretty way. Would love to hear the rest of that song to see if they allow that part to breathe and stretch out.

Also, if a lot of the album sounds like this, I could totally see it opening the band up to touring with some pretty hot/relevant acts which is something I've been dying for for awhile. Like, this may be a bit extreme, but I can almost feel some Youth Lagoon in here. Ughhh, it would be incredible if they could tour with High Highs or something like that.

Sounds very promising. Love the drippy guitar and the super syncopated drums. The demo does sound super compressed and grating, I'm guessing it'll sound much smoother when released.

And as far as Laugh it Off being better than Hiding Out? Endless Sleep? Troubled Waters? hmmm . . . not sure how I feel about that statement. Well, I know i disagree with it but its hard to rank Stacy songs cause they're all kinds of brilliant. I do know I think Laugh it Off is one of the best Eisley songs performed live. Ever.

I'm trying not to listen to the previews and stuff until the album is out but this statement stresses me out. Modest Mouse is like my all time least favourite band, I wouldn't know what to do if my favourite band started to sound like my least favourite band.
