Oh man, my bad! I need to check my clipboard. Posting too many videos too many places... gonna go edit that now, but hey, that's a really great live take though! Meanwhile, Gorillaz won me over right off the bat with Clint Eastwood (another great video), and I can't say I liked any song of the debut as much as that. I really enjoyed Feel Good Inc. Was that album the one with Danger Mouse? Cause the one Stylo is from, the songs didn't really move me, but the videos were excellent in building the character narrative. Anyway, the thought of Danger Mouse brought me to another epic video that was also the debut single for a band Danger Mouse was a producer for... https://youtu.be/bd2B6SjMh_w _________________ yup, that's my name. Great vid. Radiohead have been tops since the Bends with their videos, and I'd say they inspired other UK acts to be as ambitions. Travis has had that same standard. Their videos are consistently great, fun narratives most of the time. This is actually a fan video for an album track that they shared themselves when the Invisible Band was still being toured. It almost moved me to tears the first time I saw. https://youtu.be/bMtoyVpYfbs - Pipe Dreams _________________ yup, that's my name. I was going to put Marvelous Things earlier, but balked. It always reminded me of Blackhole Sun's backyard scenes without going headlong into the surreal aspect of it all, yet retaining a slightly ominous tone. I think Louder Than Lions is the closest they've come to how well Marvelous Things turned out. Last Goodbye was the song that reeled me in, but I didn't pick up Grace until a few years later when someone at school was playing the album on repeat. It was this song that really sealed the deal. I had never once seen this video, and it was the only realized concept style video he was able to make, appropriately So... Real https://youtu.be/EcaxrqhUJ4c _________________ yup, that's my name. I did???? Oh man, for some reason I thought I had started to and then got cold feet! Hell Bent seems to always get pulled off the streaming sites. It's a favorite of mine. I suppose they are all public on my youtube channel, so feel free to mine that for obvious future picks of mine. I've got a wildcard for you today though... It's we'red... Nowhere Man wrote: I did a speech in college about seeing this video for the first time. Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana The colors and images are so vivid. The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever Same thing there - colors are so vivid. That was done in the 60's. We've seen all the backwards footage a zillion times now post MTV, but it was not that common then as far as I know. Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime This stood out to me even before I became a huge fan of the band. MTV would play it now and then even in the 90's it seems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1wg1DNHbNU Then there are some stop motion ones like Sledgehammer and MJ - Leave Me Alone. _________________ I am Torgo. All of those were ones I balked on cause I figure they were bound to come up. They are all excellent, though I Nirvana and the Beatles came to mind before Once In A Lifetime. I was thinking of posting Sweet Dreams, which made me think of Manson's cover. That video made his career. But that video owes a lot to Trent, and I would be obligated to post the video for Closer. I never liked that song though. And I prefer the Eurhythmics original Sweet Dreams, because the 90s dark and twisted cover trend got old really quick. I should post a White Stripes video, but again, it's so easy with them... I have an alternative though, one that really got my attention back in the day. I would consider it disturbing in a similar way to the Circa Survive Schema video, but different.... What A Life https://youtu.be/WmOh165354I _________________ yup, that's my name. Forgot about Radiohead - Knives Out Another Gondry. Recently I watched the great Busta Rhymes/Hype Williams videos Lots of fisheye lens. The shot with the real elephant is amazing. Blur, Beck, Eels, Smashing Pumpkins, REM, Weezer and more all had some great ones. _________________ I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away. |

I know now why I thought he was going to hug that crying baby but I still don't know why everybody needs to know it's the Year of the Rat. |

I remember Badly Drawn Boy getting a lot of Elliott Smith comparisons and being underwhelmed and disappointed by his music when I finally heard it, in comparison to Elliott Smith's. I assumed it was the knit cap more than the music. To my ear it was like comparing Simon & Garfunkel to Elton John, past one or two songs the comparison doesn't hold up. I do remember this video though. Speaking of Elliott, here's my evidence to support my claim, the video that got me to look past the hype of Miss Misery (which I hadn't even heard at that point) and all the trendy magazine covers featuring him and his knit cap back in 98', Son of Sam, https://youtu.be/afeAUndotas @Bigideas: Are you still not able to post links to the forum?
