some of my favorite poetry in the world is lyrical. however i think it would be great to get the bands' favorite poems (musical or not). so if you would all be gracious enough to lavish us with beautiful words, it would be greatly appreciated. my favorite is "For the Anniversary of my Death" by W.S. Merwin Every year without knowing it I have passed the day When the last fires will wave to me and the silence will set out Tireless traveler Like the beam of a lightless star Then I will no longer find myself in life as in a strange garment surprised at the earth And the love of one woman And the shamelessness of men As today writing after three days of rain Hearing the wren sing and the falling cease Bowing not knowing to what. _________________ "Music is the phantom decider, determining my life long chase, never to be laid hands on, so singing soft i sound out my fate again. Sometimes i fall asleep, but this day i lived wide awake, at its end i saw the jewels of life glitter, at least i saw who this music is for" Rocky Votolato |

Here is one of my favorites. It's written by Sylvia Plath when she was younger, and since I love fairy tales, It was a lovely read. I'm sure there are more beautiful words and poems out there, but this one struck a cord within me. Cinderella The prince leans to the girl in scarlet heels, Her green eyes slant, hair flaring in a fan Of silver as the rondo slows; now reels Begin on tilted violins to span The whole revolving tall glass palace hall Where guests slide gliding into light like wine; Rose candles flicker on the lilac wall Reflecting in a million flagons' shine, And glided couples all in whirling trance Follow holiday revel begun long since, Until near twelve the strange girl all at once Guilt-stricken halts, pales, clings to the prince As amid the hectic music and cocktail talk She hears the caustic ticking of the clock. -Sylvia Plath _________________ Take heart, sweetheart, or I will take it from you. <3 brand new. |
