Quote: Marvelous Things by Malcolm Mayhew
Last January, Eisley, the Tyler-based quintet formerly known as Moss Eisley (after a spaceport in Star Wars), was this close to changing its name to Neverland. Given the situation that Michael Jackson is in at the moment, you could say their decision to risk the wrath of George Lucas and stick with Eisley was a stroke of good luck. Indeed, Lady Luck was definitely on Eisley's side this year. The orchestral-pop group, made up of the young DuPree sisters Chauntelle, Sherri and Stacy, their brother Weston and friend Jon Wilson, landed a deal with major-label behemoth Warner Bros. and a tour with massively popular English band Coldplay and put two very good EP's, Laughing City and the recently released Marvelous Things. They even scored favorable buzz in Blender and Rolling Stone (the latter singled Eisley out as a highlight of 2003's South by Southwest festival). And to think, they haven't even released a full-length album yet. But according to guitarist Chauntelle DuPree, -- who, at 21, is the oldest member of the band -- the first Eisley album proper is coming this year, hopefully as soon as this summer. The group is set to record it this winter in Seattle with producer Aaron Sprinkle (best known, so to speak, for his work with MXPX, Pedro the Lion and Damien Juardo). Even though the releasing of two EP's in a year isn't exactly glacial-paced, Dupree says the band has intentionally taken things slow. "We wanna try and develop at a normal pace," she says. "We don't want to rush anything. That's why we put out the two EP's first, just to get our name out there." Done deal. I typed that out as it appears in the mag. For those of you that want a copy, I got mine from Wal-mart. I'm also willing to relinquish my issue as I'm already done with it. The info isn't the most accurate, but at least they're saying good things. _________________

Give me, give me shock treatment, because I wanna be sedated, and I've got twenty twenty twenty four hours to go. Also, beat on the brat who wrote that with a baseball bat, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh oh. What can you do with a friend like that? _________________ If the end of the world has proper noodles I'll probably be okay with it. |

When they said Rolling Stone I believe they were talking about an article they ran on SXSW.... not the Marvy Things review. The SXSW piece was a good one. _________________ thanks to the works of stephen colbert, the population of elephants has tripled in the past 10 years. |
