i said IM, because it's streaming conversation, it's the next best thing to sitting at a table in a diner with all your buddies, only you get to hold all the conversations you want to, not just one, good stuff.

IM for sure. Letters are nice and the effort is great, but IM is as close to get as talking in person, save for possibly the phone.

they're all good in their own ways. letters are more personal and you can say exactly what you're thinking and feeling without being interrupted or getting off subject. emails are the same way, but less personal, but more quick and efficient and time saving. IM is also quick adn efficient and time saving and its best for discussing things. not the best for trying to prove a big point like you could in a letter.

Ah yes - the phone...how did we forget about this.

Email - alright - i dont really use it.
IM - use it all the time. Its a great way to keep in touch with people especially when you really dont have anything specific to say. A fun way to chat.
Snail Mail - slow and inconvenient - but its still so awesome to get something in the mail besides bills and college stuff.
Phone - probably the best way of communication. With everyone having a cell phone you can pretty much reach anybody 24/7.

Cant beat one on one conversation though.

the whole thing about e-mails and IM is the personality sort of gets sucked out of it. think for a second about all the letters you've received in your life. they're in your attic aren't they? in a box or two, waiting for a day long from now when you'll be cleaning and you can read em. it's like photographs, moments in time captured for eternity so that you can look back and remember powerful emotions, or not powerful one's now thanks to digital cameras.
Now think about your inbox, how many e-mails have you gotten? i know from 1997 to 2001 i got well over 10,000. and i delete my junk mail. so bow, 10,000, great i can go back and look at em, oh wait, i switched ISPs and now i can't access that inbox, or oh wait my hotmail account can only hold 5 megs and i gotta delete stuff after that. So POOF there go those moments in time right? gone, and IM, ha! those moments end before they even begin...
but we don't need to keep all those emotions anymore do we? screw that, convenience, the world moves too fast to stop and remember other times.

definately not IM...Im's are not like having a real conversation with another person because things can easily be taken the wrong way. In IM's ,you don't hear the tone or the context of whats being said and it can cause trouble...even over nothing.

Like ashley said real mail (or snail mail) is the most personal and it's my preferred option. I personally much prefer receiving a hand written letter opposed to an email.I hope she doesn't mind me saying this but I got just countless PM's and stuff from Amy which were all great but she also once wrote me a letter and it was by far the best thing I ever got from her, probably because it took some time & effort and was in hand writing which made it more personal than typing out an email or PM.

Emails are just convenient and quick, sometime I think we all should just slow down and do some things with a bit more effort.

haha I rambled on so much more than I ever meant to lol Laughing
