I heard that you won an Observer award on the sports radio station here in Dallas (the ticket, 1310 AM). I guess they hosted the shindig at the Tearoom last night. They mentioned you guys by name! said you sounded great, and that they want to hear more of your stuff. This was all during their afternoon drive time show (it was around 5:30pm when they talked about it). I thought it was pretty cool. They're pretty picky about their music.
It's just an AM sports station, but they have a pretty big following around here (they had 12,000 people pay to see the morning crew play the afternoon crew in a charity hockey game. It was bad hockey, but fun to watch).
The station is really more than a sports station. They cover all types of stuff, and have fun doing it. Some call it a station that really just has guy talk with some sports sprinkled in.
Anyway, I was thinking of getting them a copy of EP2, so they could listen to it. They would probably play some of it on the air too. They do that kind of stuff....

Then, I picked up the Observer today, and Eisley is mentioned many places in the awards section. And one page of the awards section is the picture of the band that they ran on the cover a few months back, and a pic of The Polyphonic Spree (another local fav of mine).
It was nice to see...

Ahhh yes...the greatness of the Hardline. I've been listening to them for 7 years.

Yea, it's too bad the Chemistry Set didn't win, but at least they lost to Eisley!

A six-year P1 (well, more like a P2, since I do listen to other stations on occasion) here.

It was good to hear the HL speak of Eisley in a positive manner. It's amazing what exposure on their show can do for local artists.

I actually went to the awards ceremony with an old friend of mine who used to work for the Susquehanna Nation (he was a bit player from time to time on the Hardline known as the "Gen X Chippewa"). We went over to talk to Rhyner, who had obviously partook of the bar. Conversation with that guy is quite amusing...

is anyone else bothered by this "best NEW band" thing? i mean, yeah, it's great they won, but it would have been just as appropraite to give them "best cereal choosers in the industry" (which i'm sure they are!). i don't think years and years of hard work should be discounted just because the magazine hadn't noticed it before. sheesh. this is almost as bad as when rolling stone compared you guys to the flaming lips. great pubilicty, poorly handled.

still, congrats. you had my vote. so glad things are finally taking off. can't wait for laughing city!!!
