Breaking news: Sherri has started a contest on her Xanga. If you write the best new version of "Telescope Eyes," you get a framed copy of your lyrics. Second place gets "to kick A&R in the tush," which I think is a much better prize. Oh well. Below is my submission. Oh-oh, this album will not end They tell me "Sherri, friend, Please change 'Telescope Eyes,' Make it neat, Try something more like Avril Lavigne." Go cry, go run away Let your short legs carry you away From this big town And the industry It's no place for a band As talented as Eisley It's an awful disease Please don't make me write Please don't make me write This song is fine, I know you know This song is mine, so leave me alone Dear Warner, why can't you see It's just not worth the energy To change "Telescope Eyes" One more time I can't do it again Please don't make me write Please don't make me write This song is fine, I know you know This song is mine, so leave me alone (repeat) _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Remember, you're talking to the person who wrote "Subway Bloody Subway" here. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Wow that is nuts. I can't believe that. Re-write the verses? I'll bet they don't ask that of Bono or Chris Martin. Sheesh. I'll make an attempt. But it won't be as cool as the original. _________________ https://soundcloud.com/kiteswithoutstrings/tracks |

I have to say I'm not very happy with the label people if they are making Sherri write new lyrics for TE. She should only rewrite if she feels the song needs it. Say it ain't so... Don't let them force you. P. _________________ "Enjoy Every Sandwich" - Warren Zevon "What's Life Without Music?" - The Mermaid Purse www.myspace.com/ptah |

Say it ain't so... Don't let them force you. P. yep,my thoughts exactly..whatever happened to the "don't fix it if it's not broken" attitude? The lyrics are fine the way they are. _________________ ![]() |

I've always thought it should go like this. Written from an old man's perspective ... She humored me today Calling me out as gay With my telescope eyes, and false teeth I can’t be seen with you (you whipsnapper) So laugh with me today Let your sexy legs carry you this way You've got a punk dress and flirty hair My Depends are waiting for you I'm not old, too old for you Marry me, please I'm a geriatric guy I'm a geriatric guy I'm just like you, a little bit old I'm just like you, but don't give me a cold Dear hot babe, why can’t you see? You’re just not near enough like me With my telescope eyes, and false teeth I can’t be seen with you (you whipsnapper) _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I think it should be a duet between Craig and Sherri (Sherri) Oh oh..this ain't gonna be a good day Craig's comin over to say (Craig) "That that Telescope Eyes the words you see, they don't make any sense to me" "Don't cry, don't turn away... let your brain pop out that hit today With your smartness, and your changing hair, won't you please do this for me...and we'll hear that cha-ching$" (Sherri) Please don't say "re-write" Please don't say "re-write" Well, it's a start anyway ![]() |

Ha. A duet! Perfect! ![]() I think it's ironic that Eisley's hit — with some of their most straightforward lyrics that armies can repeat around Dallas — is the one that gets the wrath of rewrite (well, i guess of the ones we know). How can that not make sense?? I guess I'm trying to apply logic where there is none, though. ![]() _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

the song is really about me... (you know, i have corrected lenses) and, I'm so old i have metal teeth... and, mathew is short for boyd. so, if she re-writes it, it'll probably be about my slowly balding wig. or if my arm rots off, it could be about that. all i know is that the song is sounding very very. it sure is. i'm surprised actually. it's so... she's so...h e a v y.... _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
