Marvelous Things Video Hey everyone. Eisley's first video is out; beta versions have been sent to broadcast (MTV, etc.), VHS and other forms to various medias (cable, retailers, etc.) - and, of course, the on line versions (WB street team, tons of web-zenes, many on line entities) are here. When I return home, also highlight this on our front page. We're still in LA with Rob Shnapf. Just so you'll know, this is an introductory video...low budget, but hi- quality (shot on 35mm); most of the crew and videographers and equipment were free simply because they loved the band and song so much... and they just wanted to help and be involved, which is crazy. It's directed by Phil Andelman, an up and coming New Yorker. I wish I could tell you more about him other than he was a super nice guy, very encouraging, very enthusiastic, very good at what he does. I think he's worked on quite a few big name video's, but I can only remember Linkin Park. His favorite band is Radiohead. No, he's a fanatic like us. I think he said he say the "All Hail to the Theif" show 3 times in different cities. He and all of his guys were amazing. They made the shoot fun. Totally pro. It's a relatively simple treatment; just a performance piece, but I believe the film elevates the song and captures the band in a very natural way... it gives the song room to breath...to be heard without a bunch of conventional video clutter...and avoids the cheese. There'll be budget and time for wildly creative video's later. Remember, this is a song off an ep. We're thankful to even have a vido released before the real record. Threads about the video on this forum to access showing the day it was shot with pics and more info: http://www.eisley.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2646 Hope you enjoy it. That was super cool. I thought the video looked great and worked well with the song, and not in spite of its simplicity. It was also cool to see the band performing, since I haven't gotten to see a show yet... Anyway, very nice job to everyone involved, and thanks to you, Boyd, for keeping us fans up to date with everything! I hope it's been a (pre-)productive week in LA; I'm sure it'll be nice to be home again for Christmas. |

i remember when you guys were filming it how the director was sorta inspired by The Virgin Suicides, and I can see what you were talking about..the calm neighborhood setting and the cinematography and all.....I think it worked out well with the tone of the song and the tone of the video, and the part with Sherri turning away from the mic and then the camera shooting from the back is a really cool part......rockin' _________________ "Without music, life would be a mistake." -Friedrich Nietzsche |

woah, that's video is sweet! it's one of the best first videos for a band I think i've ever seen.. well.. way better than the first radiohead video... I think that says something... Eisley's definately gonna be bigger than radiohead now.. but yeah, sweet video, now i've gotta show all of my friends! _________________ "strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of others." ~Joseph Conrad --------------- |

Post subject: everything has been said before, nothing left to say anymore
Posted: Fri Dec 19, 2003 12:51 pm but i guess i still will say something (other than what i just did). cool video, simple, but cool. the problem sometimes is that people try putting to much into something at first and it just comes of as rather crapy (and corny and dated and stuff) so simple stuff can go farther sometimes and this definatly does. good work. i too have not seen Eisley perform so this is my first time and it was well worth it (although a concert would be better but juggling for living in UC Santa Barbara and East LA kind of hinders that. okay, now i'm just rambling, can't wait for the next one and the full length and hope you have fun here in LA. oh yeah, a question, are those real scars on Sherri's knees or what? well, latez. |

Very cool video.. I found it interesting that Sherri sang right up on the mic like she would at a live show and Stacy was several inches away from it. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |
