I agree with the Fleet Foxes comment above. I believe Eisley's continuing musical growth will lead to more folk influences.

I'm expecting something more along the lines of My Brightest Diamond given the last ep, the 2 new ones & Sucre (which is what I really hear as a template for those new ones). My first reaction to the new ones was "oh, que? Computer???" with a bigger emphasis on rhythm though, and I'm all for that.

Fleet Foxes strikes me as more akin to the Proggy European Folk tradiotion than the American folk tradition. I'd almost call a lot of their stuff chamber music, and since for a hot minute there around the time the Valley came out Eisley used Chamber Pop as a descriptor for genre, which is very accurate for some of their ornate material, a Fleet Foxes nod makes sense to me too.

^^^ Agreed. Fleet Foxes have an almost medieval quality, rather than a rootsy americana feel. Though Robin Pecknold's covers of some folk classics on youtube might fit more in that vein.

those new songs are really growing on me. it's always a good thing when i'm not crazy about certain new music right off the bat.

edit: Ha ha Chauntelle, it was fun and amazing watching you play guitar with your child inside. Each of you, Stacy and Sherri too, all of yall are so beautiful and the music is too! It seemed like a wonderful time... sorry I missed it... but well I just saw part of it! Your drumming was great to watch Weston! And Garron, it kind of looked like you were playing a base chello... with a bow. Those are really incredibly great to listen too. Very Happy Was it like that at the show? Smile

folk? I don't think so. just look at the deep space EP. None of their side projects tend toward folk, either.

It's shaping up to be acid-indie-punkfolk with spaghetti polka influence.
