That gives it a propulsive sound that makes it feel like it's pulling you into it, like a really great Tiki Fulwood beat. In fact, this song is super funky. I love it. Yeah. The drum groove (sans the open synth part) has pretty stand funk syncopation without the dynamic contrasting of ghost notes. It might sound a little strange to the listener because the production is wetter (i.e., more reverb and echo) and the the chords vary more than a classic funk song. As far as my opinion of the song: I'm not a fan on first listen. Eisley just feels like a band without any defining characteristics after radically changing their artistic direction post Room Noises. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! I can understand the whole "chaotic" vibe that people are getting, but I hear it more as syncopation and the song actually sounds very Mute Math-y to me. I'm surprised no one else has made that comparison thus far. When it comes to Drink the Water and Currents, my vote is for Drink The Water, but I do love Currents. This new "experimental" sound (I hate that term) sounds very promising. I think this will be my favorite Eisley album yet. _________________ |

I actually did make that comparison in the "Anticipating LP4" thread. My first thought upon hearing the sample was it "sounds like Darren's style." And yes, for some reason either the drums or guitars sound slightly ahead of the beat. But again, that is the syncopation like others are saying. At least we know a bit about what their fast songs may sound like. I find Drink the Water and Currents similar (thus my mistaking both to be written by the same person), though I do find myself going back to Drink the Water more. I get why "Currents" would be the single over it, though. It's actually more traditionally structured than "Drink the Water," despite the "experimental" aspects of it. |

Why is Currents the single you say To get the album's title out there so people know what to look for when it comes out. You're welcome. _________________ yup, that's my name. and respect for the generation specific points of reference. I'mm sure only a few of us LCer's can mumble that classic melody from CBS's glory days. You pretty much nailed it, kidding or not. _________________ yup, that's my name. FOR YOUR RATING PLEASURE: 4 LIKE Buttons, 1 NEUTRAL, 1 VEXED, 5 DISLIKE buttons. Although I think I actually like Currents better than Drink The Water, which didn't particularly draw me in. _________________ EvilSpace |

Digging "Currents" after not getting much of a rise out of "Don't Drink the Water." Sounds like they've been listening to Mew a lot ... Which I enjoy. Also, remembering why I avoid much LC exposure these days. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |
