Unless drinkthewater is actually Sherri.

I guess the wording is what made me think it would be audio supplied from them subconsciously without really thinking about it.

coulndt be. Sherri has an iphone 5, not a galaxy s3

why do i know this?

LOL I am definitely not Sherri. The sites were a little misleading, I thought it was going to be a real mp3 stream of the song also and then realized it was my video.

Laughing Well, to give it away that it's not me, I didn't buy the single, and that's not the kind of record player I have. Plus I was editing a post at the same time drinkthewater was posting a reply to you. I'm just super suspicious of everyone and everything cause that's how my father raised me.

When I saw Sherri's retweet she also had photos of the 7", one for each side.
I believe both had writing that I think must say Audio Technica.

How is the record player by the way?

When I tested the Order to see how much cost was with a preorder of Currents it looked like they added no shipping cost for the 7". I still think $7.99 is high for a single though.

Hasting's had a Vampire Weekend 7" with 2 songs from their new album for maybe $7.99, but the entire CD is on sale for $8.99.

They stopped selling the model I have, but it's basically the same as this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/stanton-t.52b-turntable

They just changed the color scheme and the shape and location of the power, play, and speed buttons. It's been reliable, only one record I got new has skipped, but it was a limited run single produced by an indie band, and I suspect it was just a bad pressing.

I'm looking forward to the day when they start pressing vinyl with Deep Grooves. A lot of these new vinyl releases are cut so shallow and they try to get so much on each side. It makes for lower fidelity. So, there's something to be said for releases that come as box sets of 10" 45 rpm records.

Great media + bad player = mediocre listening experience
Bad media + great player = mediocre listening experience
Good media + decent player = enough for me.

The new Tape Op has an interview with a guy who cuts vinyl. He said 18 minutes a side for highest quality. He said that is why Radiohead vinyl starts in a while because the inside and outside has less quality. Put loud songs at the beginning and quieter songs on the inside.

I just got the single today. I've spent the last several hours getting my rig setup to just attempt to even record this thing. Sadly the only way I could record it was through Windows' Sound Recorder. Had to convert that from WMA to WAV and then back to MP3. Not great, but could sound a lot worse. My record player was flawless. Wish I could say the same for everything else.

Oddly, Audacity wouldn't record it. I may not have had it setup properly but it sure looked like I did. But I did use Audacity to trim and encode it.

You've gotta make sure you have the correct default audio input devices and codecs selected in your system preference in windows AND in the Audacity preferences as well. If you do that, when you hit record it should be a ok. Warning though, the sensitivity on line level signals is pretty high with very very minimal gain. Very quiet intros will seemingly come in with barely any signal and then as the track builds it will suddenly max out the wave form.

I selected the line-in within Audacity but all i got was white noise for whatever reason. After further testing, I tried headphones straight into the amplifier and the record sounded amazing. no pops or noise that I could detect unlike all of my older vinyl. Then I listened to the Mp3 and I felt like they were pretty close. So I'm much more happy now. I had to boost the levels a little and shift the channel level slightly but it came out quite nice I think.
