Interesting input so far. I'm not going to take up pipe smoking, or any other kind of smoking for that matter, I was just curious what people's thoughts on the matter were.

And maybe I should have clarified that I meant smoking more as a social activity than as a habit. I don't know that it would have made a difference to anyone though.

also smoking is now banned inside any building, even pubs here. so smokers have to go outside to smoke. that certainly isn't social!

I meant social as in an occasional smoke with fellow pipe smokers.

unless everyone in your group smokes. I remember every single one of my mate's mates who came to see Tilly smoked. I stayed indoors for the whole gig and stood outside and chatted to them after.
