It depends on the bag and the clothes being worn. ine ine ine... I use both. It depends what i'm carrying. If, for instance, i'm just going around town, i will use a messenger bag, as it allows small weights and items only - a magazine, me diary, and whatever i'm buying. But larger things, such as big books or swimming costume etc means i shall use a backpack. If i cycle, i use paniers. It's impossible to cycle with a messenger bag like my one. _________________ She is handsome, she is pretty, she is the girl from Belfast City, she is courtin' one two three, please won't you tell me who is she? I use a backpack, but I'm always really uncomfortable when I wear both straps. I used to have a messenger bag for smaller things, but like mad_sam said they're impossible to use while bicycling so I got a single-strap pack instead. It's really comfortable and I use it when I'm traveling as a carry-on or instead of a purse. _________________ |

It's got 700cx28 tires like a road bike, but it's more upright like a commuter and it does have a rack. I used a office crate for a while, but it's a bit wobbly fastening it with cable ties. I'm thinking about maybe getting something like this, but I'm not sure if I want to lug around that extra 5.5 lbs around all the time. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! Up until I was a senior in HS I used a backpack cause I had so much damn crap. But when I reached senior year, I really had nothing to carry around with me so I used a medium sized purse tote bag thing. _________________ my name's carrie and i love a good sandwich so if you have a sandwich, come roll with me! i'm gonna marry the mars volta. |

Proper courier bags have an extra strap from the back corner that comes around your waist and hooks into the shoulder strap for extra stability (suitable for bike riding). I prefer messenger bags, but if I have a ton of stuff to carry I'll use a backpack. JanSport is my favorite brand and a couple weeks ago I came across the bag pictured above in a thrift store bin for $3 in great condition. I had a similar one but this one has the extra courier strap and is slightly roomier. It's now covered in buttons and I'm taking it with me as my one luggage item when I go to Portland next week. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Woo. I got this today, it's a laptop bag, believe it or not, and it fits my Mac like a charm. It also has tons of other pockets for stuff I will need for class :] http://images2.pacsun.com/is/servlet/izoom/PacSunProducts/4822128_01?$ 08_product_detail$ _________________ my name's carrie and i love a good sandwich so if you have a sandwich, come roll with me! i'm gonna marry the mars volta. |
