not only do they make fantastic music, right (see Plenty of Paper and Golly Sandra for more on that one. infact, just take all of Room Noises), but they're Christians playing non-Christian music. This means that they can be witnesses to more people than specifically Christian-music-orientated groups can.

True, you do get the odd band that crosses over and can be listened to some non-Christians, for example Delirious? , but this is rare. Muse on this, please... Witnessing is not just about preaching and talking to friends, it is living out a life to honour God. Through doing this God's grace shows (think of us as "mini-revealers"). Now, if someone is singing about God, generally speaking they're only fan base will be Christians. Now, Eisley don't sing about God, but they're Christians. They are, i mean, "secular" musicians. Therefore they will be witnessing to a larger number than just Christians at their gigs.

Does anyone see what i mean? i do, but i can't really express myself that well right now. hmmmmm

*goes off to skate*,

I actually talked a bit to Chauntelle about this at the Minneapolis gig. She says it is awesome that a lot of their fans share the values of christianity...or something like that. It was during a coversation on my choice of not doing theology for a major. Yeah so I definitly think its cool that they are opening their music to everyone, cos I am afraid if they were a christian music band I would have never given them a chance.

I think its a great thing. I also think it was a wise choice not to be "Christian" and to sign with a Christian label. That would have really stunted their growth.

Well...I don't really feel like I want to be a Christian, eventhough I listen to Eisley's music all the time. Maybe it isn't working.

yeah...evangelism is weird. I feel like Christian bands are trying to sell something by not putting real life in their lyrics. The most compelling evangelism to me is honest living and humility.

A bands religion means nothing to me. I don't mean that I don't respect their views and opinions, I mean that it doesn't affect whether or not I listen to their music and like it or not.

I am supposedly a Christian, seeing as my parents make me go to church, make me go to Sunday school, made me get my first communion, reconciliation, and currently are making me recieve confirmation. But I personally don't care for any religion, and really have no real belief or faith in anything Christian-related, other than the existance of God. But anyway, whether or not Eisley does, I still like their music.

I don't like to associate religion with what I listen to, as I am not a very religious person. To me, associating religion with music is the same as associating politcal opinions or even a certain scene with bands.

I think it's cool that Eisley is a group of Christians and they are proud of it, but I respect them more for not forcing it on anyone and not using their music the preach their religion. Not that I hate on bands that do that.

That's all. The end.

That's one thing I never got about "Christian bands": they say they're trying to reach the world with the gospel, but the only people who listen to them are already Christians.

I also agree with what Carrie said. I listen to Low and Saosin, but I'm not a Mormon; I listen to Led Zeppelin, but I'm not a Satanist; I listen to Muse, but I'm not an atheist; I listen to Eisley, but I'm not a Christian.

Laughing wait..this implies that it's a given that Led Zeppelin are satanists! you could've used some death metal band like Slayer or something... Laughing
