What do you guys think of Eisley's choice of singles? I think that Marvelous Things was a good choice, but not Telescope Eyes and I Wasn't Prepared. I'd rather have Trolly Wood,One Day I Slowly Floated Away,Memories,Lost At Sea,Brightly Wound,or My Lovely as singles, but at least the 1'st 3. By the way,if anyone is interested, here is a link to my online radio station. http://music.yahoo.com/launchcast/station.asp?u=1557637143 _________________ Eisley's music is, Slow, Soft, Sweet, Beautiful, Enchanting, and Magical. Yeah Telescope Eyes is my least favorite on the cd. I think any of the songs would have made better singles... especially Golly Sandra or Plenty of Paper. _________________ I know how I was born and I know that I have no choice. I would record their next "single" live, along with the video. Not that a recording of a live show quite captures the live show, but it is a lot closer than the sterilized, seaking perfection studio sound. As far as what song, I think there are already enough threads on what Eisley songs people love, and which they like less. I will leave that to y'all. |

It's an old rock marketing trick; the first single is your "hard rock track", followed by the ballad. I don't mean to sound counter-feminist or anything, but the first single is to let boys know it's ok to like this band, while the second is let pre-teen girls make it huge. _________________ Power is only pain It’s probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in. Whereas the older version probably would have done better in a time when Korn was king. _________________ Power is only pain It’s probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in. "while the second is let pre-teen girls make it huge" The songs I mentioned accomplish the same thing. _________________ Eisley's music is, Slow, Soft, Sweet, Beautiful, Enchanting, and Magical. The songs I mentioned accomplish the same thing. Trolley Wood is a good concert sing along, but I could never see that as being a single. What about the other songs I mentioned? _________________ Eisley's music is, Slow, Soft, Sweet, Beautiful, Enchanting, and Magical. They're unlike any other music out there today. I'm way out of their target demographic as it is, and they have high-paid label folk who should know all that. Hopefully... |

"Telescope Eyes" was tailor made to be a single. It's been butchered to no end by now, and I don't really understand why. For a long time it was Eisley's most "normal" sounding song, I suppose, but it made up for it by being unrelentingly meanspirited in its original incarnation. All that was taken out for the Laughing City EP, and for Room Noises it was softened up quite a bit. I'm not sure if that was label pressure, or if that was an attempt by the band to make the song fit the album, which is something the original version wouldn't have been able to do. It's all about politics when it comes to things like that. A "single" off an album is an unnatural thing. The band is trying to write a cohesive album, and it's the label's decision which of those songs advertise the album the best. Back in the 60s and 70s, it was uncommon for a single to be on an album, they were released seperately, and for some reason that seems more natural to me. The band gets to craft a song that sells themselves to the public, and not have to try to rip it off an album that's been crafted as a whole. _________________ Scriptozoology, a screenwriting blog ..
