This forum is sadly becoming known as being unwelcoming to new members (as I've heard from many people). That's why the names and lurkers threads are there. Lets new people learn people's names, and lets older people have an easy way to find their names. And the lurkers thread is to pull people out of hiding. The reason I started this thread was to see if maybe the photo thread could serve in a way similar to the names thread. I don't think it should be sticked. The reason for that is that it gets new posts fairly often and thus sits relatively near the top. That said, I am attracted to the idea. I've had to search for it a couple of times. I think if stickifying it does help welcome new members, then there's no harm. That's the only plausible reason that i can think of for stickifying it. I have never paid attention to stickies on any forum. Ever. Only once have I seen a useful sticky, and it was when a member of the forum died and his brother came on and posted the news. Stickies are only meant for really important things, like the Gregor news... the only way people will pay attention to them is if they aren't always there and lame. Yeah.. Good points in the last two posts. I think the Announcement threads are more for news things, but I'm mainly just trying to see how and why things are viewed the way they are. Definitely paying attention ...
