To be fair, the harm that artificial sweeteners do on rats isn't really linked to humans in a meaningful way. There really isn't any substantial evidence to link artificial sweeteners to human harm. Yeah, I think it's really not good to drink sugary drinks either. Too many calories with no nutritional value, plus it makes insulin spike. Probably safest just to drink your own spit.
