So I know a lot of you probably have come to appreciate the awesome of this song, but I just downloaded it off iTunes this weekend and fell completely in love with it. I can't stop listening to it. Any other die hard fans of this song out there? It's seriously one of my favorites now I especially love the guitar parts. Why oh why did this not make it onto one of the albums? I'm so glad I found it! _________________ i want to eat your artichoke heart - thom yorke |

If you're interested an older recording of the song is available here (#10). |

Yeah, I love it! It's cool because it's a bit rockier than most of their other songs. I forgot where I downloaded it from _________________ Kneel before your god Babylon! "I don't wanna touch you and feel so helpless; I don't wanna smell you and lose my senses" Rufus Wainwright, Foolish Love |

HATS is an amazing song. And unlike any other song in the eisley catalouge, musically that is. _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... I was so glad when they re-recorded Head Against the Sky, back in the early years that was my favorite song of theirs (now replaced by Brightly Wound, maybe...). I'm glad they brought it into their professional era for the world to behold. Now, if only they'd re-record Blackened Crown... love, luke |

I definitely like the re-recorded version best, so I think it's very much worth the purchase. It's great to watch this live, and one of the longer moments you'll see them rocking out without vocals for an extended period of time. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

The live version they play on the Combinations DVD is jaw-dropping, Chauntelle is in pure guitar goddess form. Wish I could buy that tone in a bottle - crank it up!! _________________ http://www.twitter.com/drstrangeblog http://www.last.fm/user/getinline I can't find the time to write my mind the way I want it to read. |

The rerecorded version is probably one of my all time favorite Eisley recordings, in terms of production. The drum grooves and bass are perfect, the stereo panning is fat, the dynamic range is well utilized (for a pop recording), and the song ain't too shabby, Plus, Eisley songs that don't fit perfectly into verse chorus verse = win _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! The Re-recorded version of HATS was one of the first songs by Eisley that I downloaded from iTunes and heard...And after all this time, I'm still not tired of it. Both versions are awesome, but I too love the production and overall sound of the newer version. The guitar parts are layered and loud, but not just noise...very melodic... Sherri's voice is very emotional (same goes with the lyrics), yet fits perfectly within the space of all the other intruments. And of course the music breakdown/reoccuring themes are awesome. So yes, even though when I first found this song, I wasn't necessarily a person into heavy guitars, this may have been my bridge to that because I loved it instantly. |

I must say, HATS is one of my alll time favorite songs! And one of my favorite songs to jam out on my Rhodes with when I need to relieve some stress! I too love the HATS performance on the Combinations Live DVD. Stacy and Sherri's voices are flawless and in such perfect harmony. Chauntelle's guitar solos are EPIC and Weston and Garron are totally jammin' I prefer the re-recorded version over the EP2 version because the EP2 version sounds like it was still a work in progress. Plus, the re-recorded version is a little bit more special because if I'm not mistaken it was the last song they recorded with Jon. ugh, Head Against the Sky= LOVE!!! I hope I can see it live one day. _________________ |
