Well, Leno beat Letterman in ratings, though I consider the comparison to be funnier than Leno ... heh.

But Conan's appeal is definitely to the younger audience, so maybe things will even up a bit, but I think it's more likely that the numbers will stay close to the same. All I now is that I am disgusted at having to choose between the two best late night hosts now. But Letterman is my long time and sentimental favorite (and has been for about 19 years now). Conan is great, though ... Like I said, crappy choice.

Also, Jimmy Fallon? WTF?

That said, Conan sucked his first year and a half ... so there's hope. I guess. Confused

I think Conan is too big of a character to appeal to the idiot demographic. His ratings will be fine, but I think NBC will be disappointed.

If Conan were leaving NBC to replace a retiring David Letterman I would be totally cool with that, it would seem appropriate. It's almost as if this is NBC saying "Hey Dave, up yours one more time!"

And yet I like Conan, has his own brand of humor that's a step further off the beaten path than Dave was, in a good way.

The odd man out for me is Craig Ferguson, who I am actually a big fan of. He's a raw nerve and a natural whit, which is a volatile combo, but he's got impeccable comic timing and awareness. If Dave retires anytime in the future though, I think they'll just put the late show down, cause it really is his baby, and is baby alone. Had NBC given him Johnny's chair, I don't think there would be a late show at all.

I guess we're gonna find out one way or another, like it or not.

i got more mack than craig and in the bed...

i've never cared for Craig, although i like when he interviews Kristen Bell.

i prefer letterman over leno
conan over craig

so i don't know what i'm gonna do.
i guess just pick who has the most interesting guest/artist that night although i don't usually stay up late enough to watch anyway.

leno still has some new show before the tonight show. i still haven't really understood what that will be.

Didn't see that lyric comin'...

oh, the of 40 has to do with Antrider's concern for the lack of posts in general, in a thread in general titled "general".

So, I figured, since I'm not doing anything for Lent, cause I'm non-denominational, why not kill two "I like to procrastinate and stir things up" birds with one stone?

Im a big Conan and Letterman fan. It will be interesting to see this play out.

I think though, they both have their own distinct audiences.

More interestingly will be to see where the Leno followers go.

Leno is so unlike Dave and Conan (ie not funny). And their humour might be a little too much for some Leno fans.

We will see how the ratings go.

As long as he doesn't tone it down... I would seriously consider having Conan's babies (which would turn out freakish) if he didn't have kids already... so he's already won me over. For the rest of America... who doesn't love self-deprecating humor? He will do just fiiiine. Besides, Leno's humor has run dry over the years, I think. Although, the real question should be how is Jimmy Fallon going to replace my Conebone? haha.

On his last show Conan said that people kept telling him, since he was moving to 11:30 that he needed to grow up. He promised he wouldnt do that because it is not who he is.

i look forward to him being just as goofy now as then

What makes me truly happy is that Andy Richter is coming back.
